In my opinion I dont see the fascination on badging a car as something it is not from the factory. Is the emblem that much nicer looking or the fact that you want people to think it is something that it really isnt? If it makes you sleep better at night then by all means, I am sure the SS guys are running out there doors right now to pull off their emblems and slap on some Z28 ones instead.

Thank God!

Now that that's out of the way, put the badges on there if you want.

Decisions should always be made on by what makes you happy. If you don't do it because you worry about what other's might think or how they react, then you aren't being true to yourself. This is true in ALL aspects of life.

If someone swaps an LT1 or LS1 into a V6 car there are no reasons why Z28 or even SS emblems wouldnt be approprate. My dad wanted to put Z28 emblems on mine and my brothers cars but there is no way. So instead we are putting them on our gold V6

Good. It is a Z28 and should be respected in that way, for what it is. Go with the retro 69 emblems or the other Z06 style you mentioned. Those are classy forms of emblems that don't involve trying to fake others into believing that the car is something it's not.

I'm suprised so many of you are okay with cloning an SS. we care so much for the heritage of this vehicle whether it be the z/28 or SS yet somehow its okay to slap SS or z/28 badges on a car thats not a real z/28 or SS. If GM was your girlfriend, this would definately be porking her best friend. its just wrong. I personally wouldn't do it and i'd shake my head in shame at someone that did. If any of you disagree with the last sentance than i never want to see you laugh at or make fun of a 89 CRX with a Type R sticker on it. and IMO thats WAAAY better than what we're talking about here. who gives a flying crap if your defacing a crappy honda...we're talking about true american heritage...an SS camaro. dont f*ck with it.

Exactly.

So many of you guys will bitch about "Oh I saw a Civic with fake VTEC or Type-R badges on it!" because you know that they aren't the true ones. And those are ricers that are trying to fake it to the public. Even WORSE is when musclecar guys are trying to fool the rest of them, which is what putting fake badges on a Camaro does.

It would be an SS clone... they do it all the time to older cars. It's not posing at all.

I use to have an 00 GT with a full saleen S281 body kit on the car...But not a single emblem said saleen on it anywhere. I even order the saleen bumper without saleen embroidered in it. I had a GT not a saleen...The people that put fake badges on there car do it to make themselves feel like they are driving the real thing. But once word got out that it wasn't you would feel like absolute crap. Thats like those guys who bought the old lambo/farrari kits and put them on the VW chassis. To everyone else it looks like the real deal, but at heart he has to live with the fact that no way is it real. I dunno, I think this topic really goes 50/50. Some guys like to be something there not and others don't. I mean some people would say that since I had a saleen body kit on my car I was "posing" but I still had all the GT emblems on it?

Like I said this is a 50/50 debate, but I would never put SS on something thats not.

If you're attemtping to make others think that what you have is indeed something else, then that IS posing. Just because people have done it to other/older cars before doesn't make it right.....

i agree. there's a fine line between posing and modding a car to your liking. i'd have to say the line for me is putting the badges on.

I've seen Mustangs, Camaros, and TAs that have been modded to their owners' liking. Regular TA guys put WS6 hoods on, Z28 guys put SS hoods on (I did it myself!), and some guys even change bumpers, spoilers, etc. That's all just fine because they're only changing the looks to make it better.

Once you get to the point where you're adding badges, whether to make yourself or others believe that it's something else, that's over the line.

I had the SS hood on my old Z28 and whenever people would say it was an SS, I made a point to correct them and tell them that it was really a Z28. I still had Z28 badges on the car, hell, I even had the 69-style ones for a while. I was showing that it was a Z28 because I was proud of it that way. When people would say, "But it has an SS hood?..." Exactly. Because it's a cool damn hood. But I'm not trying to pretend that it's an SS and therein is the difference.

so i guess it is also posing if you paint your car lets say... hugger orange even though it didnt come from the factory like that... or any color change. you put ZR1 wheels on your car, if they have corvette emblems on them you are posing and trying to make your car a Corvette. shame on you. you put 69 Z28 emblems on your car, your car isnt a 69 Z28 you are posing and destroying America and Chevrolet and Camaro. how about at the next car show you insist on asking to see every vin, rpo code and build sheet of every first gen car there, and if their car wasnt a Z28 or an RS or an SS use a screwdriver and pry the emblems off their car. most people dont give to ****** about cars, its just wasted breath to correct them that its a Z28 with SS hood on it.

put those SS emblems on it ASAP
