Default Styrofoam in Front Bumper???

Okay, i just removed my stock plastic camaro Grille, adn she's naked now, but i plan on buying the SLP SS Grille soon, My question is...Has anyone removed the styrofoam on the front bumper? If so, can I? I hate the way it looks in there,. But do i need it to keep the front end shape? Let me know guys? What have you all done?

Your insurance company might give you **** over it if you happen to wreck it. It weighs less than 3 pounds; just get some body color paint and spray bomb it.

mine is gone...and so is some of the actual steel bumper support....not gonna hirt anything to not have the foam in there, but there is nothing "nice" to look at behind there, unless you are getting a big ol' FMIC than i would just paint it black or something

that thing needs it to retain its shape on the highway. seen one that didnt have it .the bumper takes on a different shape once that wind starts hitting it at 60+ mph

i was considering leaving the styrofoam but just cutting it out where you can see it. that way the bumper would retain its shape, and it still would be out of view. seems like ud get better airflow into the engine compartment too...

The front impact beam is aluminum and weighs very little, the absorber weighs near nothing. If you remove those peices your air bag will not deploy as it was designed to. Your head might be through the windsheild before the bag deploys if it deploys at all. A minor accident would also do double the damage due to there being nothing to absorb/stop any impact, a bent rail alone is enough to total most of our cars. Also, the bumper cover will eventually start to sag from the day to day heat and gravity, I have seen it several times. It wont happen over night but eventually it will. If your front cover has been repainted it could get stress cracks from being distorted from someone leaning on the bumper and flexing it. If your not concearned with any of that I would suggest triming the impact bar to the bare bones but still leaving some support for the styrofoam absorber to hold the cover in shape. Even at this your gain is very little but to some every little bit everything. I think most will be amazed at just how light the entire front bumper assembly is on the fourth gen F bodys.

i would just leave the foam and spraypaint it black, then maybe put some screen/mesh over the foam. only reason i see to remove the foam or bracing is for a FMIC or a front breather setup

Does anyone have any pics of their foam removed?

I have done it and after doing it wouldnt suggest it to anybody else.My nose piece now sags a bit and I have these big spaces under my headlights because of it....really not worth doing for a 24lb weight decrease
