How did you install your 3-gauge pillar?

I've got an autometer that obviously needs to be piggy backed on the a-pillar b/c it doesn't have material where the stock one bolts to the t-top area. However, I'm unsure of the best way to go about mounting it. Did you drill yours while it was on the car? Did you take off your stock pillar and then mount it? Where did you drill the holes for best fitment? Etc.

I took off the stock pillar & cut off the vent hose so I could also install my shift light. I then cut holes in the stock pillar behind each gauge & wired all the power & ground into (1) of each by the time it exits the bottom of the pillar. Then ran all the sender wires seperate.
Like said above the best way to attach it would be (2) in the top & bottom & (1) in center. Try to get it right the first time you put in the push clips. They are a bitch to get back out. So test your wiring first to ensure power & lighting. Then put them together, run wires to under dash & reinstall like your puttin the stock piece back in.
Here is a wiring diagram for you if oyu need help or want to run it like I did mine.

And here is a pic of the finished product.
