Thumbs down So who can help me get a LOAD of tar off of my car?

So I was parked in a stone parking lot where I work. A tar truck was repaving the road and cut through the parking lot. Long story short they didnt have a top on the truck. They hit a pothole and tar splattered ALLL over my car. It goes from the very back over the windows, the sides and even onto the hood and front rims. The spots range from the size roughly of a dime to a quarter. There are maybe a hundred or two hundred individual specs. I'd like to kill the tar company Anyways any advice would be appreciated.

My Dad taught me years ago to use kerosene. It was usually on the rocker panels or the grill but I don't know if i would use it on all your spots, depends where they are. The kerosene works like an eraser though!

Yeah but will it erase my clear coat and damage the paint too? I know very little about fixing it, but I took chemistry and I know that certain chemicals will eat away the finish.

u know what i just recently found that works very well? Spray Nine does an amazing job on removing that stuff. I have used everything from lighter fluid to claybar to gasoline to soap to carb cleaner. i found nothing that works better than Spray Nine on thick deposits! give that a try!

It will be in a spray bottle (like windex) and the color of the bottle is orangeish redish color it is safe on paint and takes tar off my car. WARNING... do not buy the goof off in the can it will have yellow on it, and it also comes in an arisol version that will have yellow on the bottle. Do not use this type of goof off on your car this will take the paint off your car.

Goof Off is VERY hard on the paint and if you use it enough it will eat at the paint. I've used it trying to get left over adheasive off a vehicle that I was planning on painting anyways. If you like your paint, go buy some automotive paint prep wax and grease remover. It will remove all the garbage and not harm your paint. You'll of course need to rewax afterwards since it strips it all off but doesn't damage the paint. I used it on a friends car before putting ground effects on it and the tar and junk wiped off with ease.

I have used just wax, any old paste wax has done great. A small rag, little dab of wax and light elbow grease and its gone. I would also have that tar company pay for a detail of the car, one of those $150 details too!

well I went and tried a claybar, and some turtle wax tar remover with a special sponge, no luck... any other suggestions?? I may try the wd40 and duck tape tomorrow, but let's just say that Im less than confident that it will work. I may wind up in jail for killing the tar company anyways
