Default Carbonfiber cowl hood installed on a Camaro with pics!

I FINALLY found pictures of the ViS 3" carbonfiber cowl hood installed on a Camaro [ViS makes them for te Firebird too]. These are not my pictures and not my car.

http://www.projectcamaro.net/forum/s...highlight=hood

And

http://www.projectcamaro.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=8685

About the hood gaps,
Yea, but alot of that is my fault. I installed the hood myself, never having done it before. And the left front fender and door are aftermarket I painted and installed myself also, so the alignment is probally off a bit cause of that.
For some reason ViS doesn't have any good pictures of the hood on their website other then the top down view. They also sell the hoods on ebay for around $650 plus another $150-200 for shipping.

I think its a little too ugly to go on a bird or camaro, but might work for the 5.0 guys.

How in the world is carbon fiber rice? Just b/c it's carbon fiber? Is listing a 160 degree thermostat as a mod rice, hell is it even a mod? The design of the hood what? If it's the carbon fiber that makes it rice better make sure your tires don't use it. I think it would look much better if it were lined up. Reminds me of the hardwood cowl.

Pretty hood off the car, but not on the car.

That hood is so nice that I'd like to destroy it.

I don't think it would look all that bad if you painted it.

The Firebird hood looks just like that one, just with the corners cut for the headlights. It should be lighter then the stock steel hood since it is CF. And if VFN would make a Sunoco hood for us bird owners, I'd be all over one.

you've pinpointed the problem (installing a unpainted hood), step 2 is painting it.

I like it... Would I have it on my car, hell no. Do I like to look at it on his car, hell yes.

On a side note though... My friend Chris's (aka Whistler's) hood (aka the Harwood hood BEFORE Harwood copied the hood) looked good in carbon fiber:

but looked even BETTER painted (same hood and bumper, different car):

I think the above mentioned LT1 hood looked better off the car because then you just admire the workmanship and clean lines of the carbon fiber but on the car it just looks unfinished...

I don't think Carbon Fiber is rice at all. I think the use of carbon fiber this way is rice. The hood doesn't fit AT ALL, has 6' long hood pin retainers, and since it has NO supporting CF accents, it looks out of place and like a seriously rushed decision.

All of the things that look like **** about it are the same things a ricer would do. Hence my statement.

To me the term ricer signifies a state of mind not just a look. Anyone, any car, any country, etc., can have a ricer mentality, not just the import guys.

As stated on this forum before, "just because it says it fits on your car, doesn't mean it should be on your car."

If it fit, and was painted, it would look soooo much better IMO.

I think the hood's design is nice.

I don't like the hood pins and I don't like the way it fits on the car, but it had potential.

Like someone said in the other thread, I think it'd look nice with the hood painted, save for the cowl, or something like that.

That guy was showing at auto fair with some friends of mine for Traid F-Body. IMO the car doesn't look that good with carbon fiber. He has lots of other mods, and being a V6 he would kick my LT1 ***. But if you see it in person you will know what I'm talking about.

To me it just seems kinda rice...and I mean that in the nicest possible way.
