It won't damage the intake, besides you're gonna paint it again.

just sand it, prep it, and paint over it with black or pewter

well thats the thing i didnt want to have to paint it... you know just get that paint that is on there off and have a stock looking intake. but i guess a flat black paint job will have to be in line. or would a semi gloss black look better?!?

I would use lacquer thinner and wipe it off in layers.

id just paint it black again, or go to a body supply shop and get a aerosol paint stripper, but make sures its for plastics if not it will melt the intakee!

you will never get all the paint stripped off the intake, and even if you do it will probably look like it has been sanded like crazy. You are going to need to repaint it just use a flat black or maybe even a textured flat to get it to look stock again.

ull get the paint off with stripper with no sanding...... just alot of effort and time still easier then sanding and not destroying it, why not sell the painted one and find a stock one if it bothers u so much

Sand, Sand, Sand. Make sure you use High Temp paint when you repaint it. I'm going to be doing mine soon.

Lot of bad info here. First, if it was rattle can paint on there, do NOT spray over top of it. Guaranteed there was no adhesion promoter used and it will start peeling. Number two, do not try to sand it off. Your arm will fall off. Use the lacquer thinner method I suggested or if you really want to get it off fast, use some Aircraft Stripper. Finally, you do NOT need high temp paint.

I've done many, many intakes, not to mention 100's of sets of fuel rail covers.
Look at my sticky in the Appearance Section on how to paint plastics and follow that. You'll be fine.

Bryan.....I'm not doubting what you say about not using high temp paint but can you tell me why when my FRC's were painted using adhesion promotor and primed why they bubbled up really bad. Then they were painted by someone else a second time who does FRC's all the time and they bubbled up too. Can you tell me why that was so I know what went wrong?

Thanks

another vote for the lacquer thinner, it works wonders at stripping paint
