Default Got Tired of My D&S Rotors Rusting So I Murdered Them!

I got sick and tired of having to take my rotors off my SOM WS6 and sand the rust out of the slots and holes everytime they got wet (remember its a show car...not a driver!) The pads will clean rust off the surface but not down in the slots...so that was the only way to clean them and it was a PIA. So I figured I would try something different (or at least I haven't seen it done before.) I had the rotors powder coated black and then the surface area lightly turned to take the coating off. If left the coating around the outer edge, in the holes & slots and on the hub. I think they turned out awsome. I am not sure how this would work on a car thats driven much (I do plan to find out on my Firehawk real soon though), but hopefully they will live no more than I drive this car. The coater said they should be fine temperature wise.

All murdered out in black powder coat:

On the lathe getting turned down enough to take the coating off the surface where the pads will touch:

And the finished product...best part no more rust!

Thanks...like I said plan to get some done to run on my Firehawk soon, so I will see how they hold up on it.

Speaking of the Hawk...I didnt want it to feel left out so I got some stuff coated for it too while I was at it:

I will, but it will be a few weeks before I put the rotors back on. I have some suspension parts (LCAs, PHR and billet bump stops) for the SOM car being chromed and they wont be back for a couple weeks. So I am going to just wait and put it all back on at one time. During the down time while its on stands I am putting on a TA rear end cover and a red energy suspension bushing kit....plus polishing the Corsa catback. And actually the white sway bars are going on it too (they match the strano springs.)

Be sure to post pics when they go back on the car. I have a feeling a lot of people will be doing this after seeing yours.

The rotors were $100 to have them coated and a friend turned them for me for free. Well worth it IMO.
