I am in the market for a converter for a new project. The car will only make a little over 400 rwhp and sees a lot of street use. So I will need something like a 3400-3600 converter. I really can't spend $650-$800 on a converter the way the economy is. I also don't want to buy a 4 cylinder converter with an adapter on it. I have personally seen what a cheap junk converter will do to a transmission when it comes apart. I appreciate any input you guys can give me. I also plan on using the hayden 1679 cooler with a fan on it to help out with heat in the transmission.

Yea I already talked to him. $400 plus a restall probably wont be that good of a deal. The ss4000 is probably a little bit much for a street car. What does yank charge for a restall?

But by the time you spend $400 on a used converter plus the cost of a cleaning and restall..might as well get a brand new one with a warranty.

dont ever go cheap on a converter!!! "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK" your talking about a transmission. i would just hold off and wait till u have the money for a good quality converter like vigilante, yank, or circle D.
i really wouldnt want to chance putting a used converter either. these 4L60E are somewhat suspect transmissions, so dont ever go cheap on it. just read up on all the horror stories on guys who went cheap on the converters.

I got mine used off this site for $375 shipped. Its been in for over a year now. I wouldnt hesitate to buy another used stall as long as its from a quality company like Vig or Yank.

I got the full size 3000 lockup stall converter new from Circle D for less than $400 and it's been great for my street car. I picked up 4 tenths in the 1/4 mile with it too. Only mods on the car at the time were the stall, airlid and electric cutout and ran a 12.8

you do not want to go cheap on a converter. i would wait and save up unless you just got to have one now. i run a 3 speed with yank 4000. not my dd but i drive everywhere. doesnt effect your drivability.

I will second that+++ Call and they will let you know everything you want to know and they will build you one to you’re specs. I and other people I know are very happy with theirs. Also they come with a 1 year warranty from the time you install it. Think I pay $300 something for mine.
