Default 2003 Trailblazer 4L60E ?

Will a 4L60E from a F-body bolt up to a 2003 Trailblazer with the I6?

Default Bell Housing

The trailblazer 6 Cylinder version uses a different bell housing . I can,t remember if the six uses the same input shaft. Just compare.

Default Reviving this thread

Just wondering if the Trailblazer I6 tranmission is pretty much the same as a 2004 5.3 tranmission other than the removable bellhousing?

I need a tranny for my 5.3 swap and have a 4L60e V8 bellhousing on hand so I'm hoping if I get the I6 4L60e transmission all I would need to do is swap those out and bolt straight on to my 2004 5.3 engine.

Would I need a different torque convertor as well or can I use the I6 TQ?

The trans from an I6 TB will work it just uses a different bell housing but still uses the 300mm input shaft and stator tube. For your 5.3 you will just need to use a bell that has the 12 o'clock bolt hole. The I6 converter will work just fine. Good luck with your project. Vince

awesome thanks for the reply.

This is the bellhousing I have on hand and hope to use..I don't think it is the 12 oclock bellhousing but it bolted ot my 5.3 fine.the weird thing is I think it came from a 4.3 astrovan, but has the GEN 1 input shaft so I had to used the flywheel adapter and longer bolts.

Do you think using this bellhousing on the I6 4L60e will pose any problems? I didn't know since it's some sort of "hybrid" that the bell housing would be different in any way.

... so, Vince, would a 4L60e bellhousing bolt pattern from a 2000 LM7 5.3 (iron block) fit on a 2006 L33 5.3 (aluminum block)? Thanks.

Ok, I actually have the other tranny bolted up to my 5.3 right now - it physically bolted up. I figured since it was a 4.3 tranny it would work. I'll try to find a LS1 bellhousing instead.

Thanks for the info, I appricate it

If you planned on using that trans/bell combo keep in mind that you loose the 12 oclock bolt hole and also the pilot for the converter is short so it will not be supported by the crank. It would require a crank spacer or custom pilot on the converter.

So the I6 torque convertor will work with the correct 5.7 / LS1 bellhousing on a 4.8/ 5.3 / 5.7 engine?

I got the I6 tranny , gonna locate a 12 oclock bellhousing for it now.

I'm gonna have a flywheel spacer and bolts for sale now since I don't need it.

Thanks again for the help

Old thread I'm bumping, I know... but used search, and I have a similar question.

I have a 4x4 4l60e from a 1999ish 4.8 in the garage and found a 02 envoy I6 in need of a transmission. Assuming the Envoy is 4x4, will this be a direct replacement? My wife will be the primary driver so I'm not really worried about stall speed, so I'd likely put in the known good 5.3 converter.

I know I'm bringing back an old thread but I have a chance of getting a clean 99 astro that needs a trans and have a fresh rebuilt 04 trailblazer trans sitting in my tb with a blown motor. I stumbled across this post and have some questions on how your tb trans worked out
