Default late and real lazy shift into 2nd gear

I installed this low millage 4l65e in my car , befor i did i just installed a heavy duty sprag, Zpak, and a aluminum accumulator. when puting the accumulator in it i noticed it was stif to go in . I guess my question is would that accumulator be the cause of this 1-2 shift problem.

the acumulator regulate fluid flow to the band kinda like a cushion. It being stiff going in however is not likley your problem.
I would check the servo assembly .

It actually went in stiff but was even worse coming back out the spring had a hard time pushing it out.

well I got it out. And here is the scoop btw the trans is a 3100 mile 4l65e that was in a total . it had all wheel drive so i disassembled the trans to install a long output shaft, a hd sprag, Zpak and aluminium accumulator.
drove it 4 3 days and now that I have it apart the only thing i see is a burnt up band everything else is great. what went wrong I thought the accumulator piston was wrong but it apears to fit perfect. What are your thoughts

I had this happen to me a while ago on a TH700R4. I had the longest apply pin available but because the drum was worn a little, it wasn't long enough to squeeze the band completely.

I would rather not say how I "fixed" the problem, but it did run 11.7 in a 3600# daily driven BBC Malibu for several years without failing.

Did you have the 2-4 servo out when you worked on it? If you did, you may have accidentally cut the teflon ring. You may also want to look at the 3-2 exhaust ball in the capsule and make sure nothing is caught inside the tube. Check and make sure the 1-2 shift valve isn't stuck.

Good Luck.
