Default Aftermarket shifter guys, what cable???

In the process of installing a quarter stick and when I undone the factory cable, I just noticed my hurst cable isn't going to work. The end on the factory cable that goes into the linkage is like a rubber piece that has an indent to slide into the linkage. Is there anyway to get that piece off and put it into the hurst cable or is there something I'm missing??

Your shifter should have a new bracket that mounts to the transmission , a cable with a small piece that screws onto the end of the hurst cable and a new shift lever , there is no need to use any of the factory stuff .

It's got all the stuff you mentioned but the piece that screws into the new cable won't slide over the old shifter linkage. I can't post a pic of it from my phone I don't think..

I'm pretty sure you can't reuse the factory cable.

If you want to see the linkage that came on the new cable, text me at 865 3999624. The car is in the air and I gotta get it done fairly quick, wife's birthday is Saturday! Lol

I know that you can't use the factory cable, I'm referring to the end piece on the factory cable that I'd like to use. It will work on the factory linkage where as I Donny know what has to be done to make the new one work

Well... anyone that has installed an aftermarket shifter has done that. The trick is getting the cable threaded between the tranny and the body once you have the hole!

Don't be afraid to modify the car in a classy manner in order to install your aftermarket parts.

I would have never started this project if I knew it was going to be such a pain. Just had to make a half *** plate to mount the shifter too..
