Right now i have 2.73's and have ordered a ST3500. I am confident about this combo.. however im having some second thoughts. I have access to a 3.73's rear for a really cheap price, and can change my order to a SY3500 or any of the Yank converters for that matter. Should i spend that lil bit extra money and get the rear and slap in something other than the ST3500??? I have been told that the 3.73 and SY3500 is an all around kick *** combo. Let me know what you think i should guys. And by the way I guess I am most concerned about performance on the street, however i still want those 1.7 60' times. 3.73's with SY3500 are capable of that arent they.. even with their 1.6 str? Im confused now! So give me advice
Thanks
Sean

You can get as good performance from the ST 3500 and 2.73 gears. The difference is that the SY3500 and 3.73s will have a much tighter feel. The downside is that with 3.73s you will have much higher freeway rpms. I like my 3.73s, but my suggestion is get the ST 3500 and see how you like it with the 2.73s. If it is too loose, then go to 3.73s.
BTW, I would not buy used gears; there is a greater chance of gear whine.

I agree with Ragtop. But don’t think the SY can’t sixty good. Check my sig That was with 3.23s and BFG DRs @16 psi. Granted, I only did that once, but my regular 60s are in the mid to high 1.7s.

Isn't the SY like $9XX? I know the ST is closer to 750 or so (I had one). So why not get the ST and the gears

Yeah all these things make sense.. i think that ill stay with the 2.73's and ST3500. If i want to change the gear, ill just go to 3.42's. Oh and Im goin to swap the whole rearend when I do, so I wont risk the whining...someone's rear out of a M6 would do So you think that if i moved up to the 3.42's I would be able to squeeze another 1/10 or so out of her as opposed to the 2.73's?? Thanks Guys

Agree on all counts. The ST3500 with 2.73 gears will launch about as hard as the SY3500 with 3.73 gears, but you'll still be able to keep you gas mileage and stronger gears. 2.73 gears are the best nitrous gears BTW. Very good for that.
Do the converter first and if you want some more ET reduction, go for the gears later.

yes. That's a good safe estimate. might get a little more with good traction, but at least you won't be disappointed.
