Default Those with TH350/400 are you sorry you got rid of your OD?

Just wondering if anyone can give me some scenarios like speed vs RPMs and what gears. For instance. TH400 with a Yank TP4400 with 3.73 gears? Would I be happy? or send my RPMs in to out space on the highway? Thanks
bob

I think you have to buy a new stall for that TH400, and try 3900rpm @ 80mph.

You have to go with a 9" stall. You cannot use the stall that came out of you OD 4l60e. You will be very happy. I am...252 1st w/411's

Easy way to get a feel for highway rpms.

Before getting on the highway sometime, put the car into 3rd at a lite. Get on the highway. take it easy on the car but see how you like the revs.

I drove my car with my 4.10's (A4) and in 3rd the revs were unbelievable. I think I was doing 4000 rpms at 55mph. <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">

Right now with my FLP I do 3000 rpms, in OD, at 80mph.

I absolutely hated the TH350 that was in my T/A for a short time. I had 3.42's and a TP4600, and it was LOOSE! Just going over overpasses was unbearable. It was nothing to see 4,000-4,500+ going over overpasses, up hills, etc. If I did go with a 3-speed auto, I'd get a lockup unit. Chuck at FLP is working on his lockup TH400 now. I'd give him a call if you're interested. (630)820-9294 It will make a BIG difference in how you feel about driving the car, especially with the 4400 stall.

Its all in the stall if you ask me.

We have five differnt LS1 cars here in MD, and VA that are running the Th400. Two 10 second cars, and a couple heads and cam cars that are running 11.2's.

Every car is completely differnt on the free way. 9698 an Incon TT car has a 2800 stall in his car and his car only tachs at 3000 at 70mph, and had no problems driving to and from Cartek. Mine on the other hand has the Yank 4400 and a wide open exhaust with out catback , and it is very tough sometimes. With the 27 inch Hooisers I am only taching around 3000 rpms though at about 62 mph.

Is it worth it. Yes!!!!!!! But only because I dont drive the car every day. If I drove it everyday I would have a full exhaust and a tighter stall definetly.

True what Andy says. Don't know anyone else that has one around here really yet. But I love the TH400 and I drive around 1000 miles a week with 3.23s. my stall is about 3800-4000 I would say. real nice on highway and around town.

one day I will probably get the gear vendors unit, but then again who knows

Soooooo.............about the Lock-up 400. what kind of drop would one see after lockup at highway speeds? Would it counter-act the extra rev's of 3.73's or 4.10's?

If you are maintaining a constant speed locked the rpms will drop like 200-400.

my RPMs stay basically consistant as my foot allows. The converter does not make the RPMs rise up or anything on the highway cause it does not lock up . If it was a 5000 stall probably it would but mine works nicely

I don't see any advantage to lock up other than gas mileage. Personally if I got a new 2002 A4 car I would try a non lock up converter in it probably if there are any around. I like the feel better
