Default Transmission for ls2 in 62 Nova

I have a 62 ss nova and i want to put in an automatic transmission in it. I have a GEN IV LS2 and some people said that a 700r4 will work with it. Someone sent me from hot rodders forum to make sure and ask here. If it wont work are there any suggestions. I dont want to do a lot of modding either. If there isnt really anything then ill go with a standard transmission.

you would need a 4l60e (electronic 700r4) or a 4l80e specifically for an ls style engine. this would be a 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, or 6.0 engine. you can use a 700r4, 350, or 400 with adapters and a special converter.

hatakezetsumei, welcome! I sent you over here :-) Try search on this forum when/if it works, I remember seeing some threads with part numbers to get your 700r4 mated to the LS2 engine.

i would just keep it simple and use a th350 or th400, they bolt right up to ls1 and ls2 engines, i have a th350 in my s-10 with a ls1(6.0L),, no special converter needed

I have the 700r4 sitting there thats why i wanted to know if it would work. Darom thanks for the help. I was thinking about running an ls2 gen IV in my caballero so i would be able to use my 350 turbo then. Makes it alot easier on me.

I have a 63 nova with the 4l60e, if you have any specific questions please let me know. The motor is a 2004 LS1. I can take pictures or anything if you are intersted. Let me know if you need anything.

Thanks,

Jamin

Check out our website... www.aceracingtrans.com .

At the top of one of the pages is an old Chevy II. (Nova) That car had a LS2 that put out right at 600 FWHP. It had one of our Manual Shift 4L60e's in it before the customer sold it recently.

It does not require any significant modding at all to get a 60 into one of those chassis!

Call if you have any questions!
