Default motor trend dynos 2011 gt real results

http://wot.motortrend.com/6659607/au...v-6/index.html

2011 Mustang 5.0

3rd gear (1.69:1)
Horsepower: 365.26 hp @ 6600 rpm
Torque: 335.27 lb ft @ 4500 rpm

4th gear (1.32:1)
Horsepower: 377.99 hp @ 6500 rpm
Torque: 351.44 lb-ft @ 4400 rpm

2011 Mustang V-6

3rd gear (1.67:1)
Horsepower: 268.06 hp @ 6700 rpm
Torque: 249.95 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm

4th gear (1.24:1)
Horsepower: 267.11 hp @ 5800 rpm
Torque: 259.90 lb-ft @ 4100 rpm

wish they posted 1:1 results. they would be about 10rwhp higher, but would remove the stigma with not using standard practices.

Impressive numbers. It backs up the 395 rwhp that 1 magazine got on their dyno. Assuming that the higher number was produced on a dynojet and the Motortrend number was on a mustang dyno.

I would assume they are both on a dyno jet but i could be wrong. Dont you have to figure in another 10-15% powerloss for the mustang dyno?

Yea, what I've been told by dyno operators is that the Mustang Dyno is typically about 25-27% drivetrain loss compared to 12-15% for a Dynojet.

And I know alot of ppl are putting plenty of stock into these early dyno tests, but I'd say I'm more interested in real world performance (real acceleration times and cornering capabilities). FWIW, I think the 1:1 5th gear on the new Mustang is probably going to throw off alot of early amateur dyno tests until the operators learn about the new gearbox more.

Thanks for the mustang dyno configurations. I knew it was higher than a dynojet but couldnt remember the exact %.. I am with you on the real world performance look of this.

Reading the motortrend article it claims it was on K&N's dynojet.

Still pretty stout power numbers.....considering I had once predicted that the new 5.0 would only generate about 375 hp at the crank. Props to Ford to proving me wrong about their resolve to deliver a 400+hp GT.

you cant translate dyno numbers to crank numbers and be perfectly accurate and use an arbitrary 15% number which is just a guess anyways. Besides now that we see some initial 1/4 mile results and the camaro and mustang are at the same trap speed i should say that puts the 395 rwhp to bed.

Isnt the ford SAE rated at 412 horsepower as is the LS3 SAE rated? i believe the SAE rating, not some BS numbers of a dyno, especially when it is K&N's dyno... thats how they get the 20 horsepower claims from their filters... lol

Weight of the Mustang?
Apparently it will be roughly 3600 pounds for the manual and 3650 for the automatic.

Wait, I thought the new Mustang had to weigh 4,000lbs due to the new safety equipment because that's what GM said made their car 4,000lbs?

What I don't understand is how it supposedly dynos very close to the SS and weighs a couple fat bitches less, yet runs and traps identical numbers. Granted they leave out 60ft times, but I'm willing to wager they're spinning with either car.

Possibly. The new GT is running on some skinny *** 255 tires......no performance tire option available either.

What did the 2010 SS dyno stock? Manual and Automatic. They must be close I saw a guy take the auto SS L99 and ran a 12.9 which is rather good when u consider its the L99 not the LS3.

GM will be releasing spec info on the 2011 Camaro's in 8-9 days....

Nothing constructive, but that is a beautiful car. Ever consider swapping in an LSX down the road? If I had a V6 that clean and that color, I'd just keep it.
