I'd like to see the Camaro recieve the same treatment for the Z28 as Ford gave the Mustang for the BOSS 302.

^^^ + 1,000,000
That is the model I will be saving my pennies for.

I would like to see the Z-28 on the next chassis that is supposed to be smaller/lighter and more rigid (Alpha) though. Not the current bloated chassis (Zeta).

3200-3350lbs. (even 3400lbs would be nice)
No power ANYTHING
Minimal sound deadening
No unneeded accessories
No sunroof option
No Nav, no 8 speaker mega sound system, no bluetooth/wireless anything. (USB/AUX. ports ok)
Stripped down door panels
Stripped down center console
Electric Steering (ZL1)
Carbon Ceramic brakes from the ZR1 (optional steel rotors to cut costs)
Adjustable Konis or User adjustable Magnetic shocks
Adjustable coil-overs
Adjustable sway bars
CF parts/panels throughout
Fully functional Aero kit (possibly adjustable)
Manual Recaro seats
Forged aluminum wheels
Sticky tires
DI 5.5L (or larger) Fully forged 450hp+
High flow dual mode exhaust
High flow Cold-Air intake
T6060 (optional CTS-V auto)
Optional Rear Gear
Optional Roll Cage
Dual map tunes on a switch (save the "performance" key business for the Valet)
Performance oriented Traction control system from the Corvette
Electronic performance meter with playback & logging (Cobalt SS pillar meter)
Same micro fiber interior treatment as ZL1
Lightweight steering wheel w/o buttons

Not too much to ask right?

I don't think the LS7 will meet emissions in the near future so I bet a Z28 would have a beefed up LS3.
Price........$55,000 starting I bet.
Z06 Vettes get only slightly worse MPGs than LS3 Vettes do, both get way better than the LS9 does. The older LS6 CTS-V got quite a bit better MPGs than the LSA does aswell. I think the LS7 would have been a better engine, but I think they cost more to produce than the LSA.

Gas mileage isn't emissions.

I would have rather seen a Camaro ZL-1 with an all aluminum 427ci. But I guess there are only so many retro Camaro and/or engine monikers and Z/28 would be better applied to a smaller displacement N/A engine in a lighter possibly stripped track ready car.

The LS7 definitely doesn't cost more to buy as a crate engine. The LSA only costs $500 more than the LS7 retail price.

That car would cost an easy 60k+ and add in CF brakes at $2,000 a pop or whatever they are, and it climbs faster. Would be a sick car though.

Car and Driver is reporting that the base price will be $47k.

http://blog.caranddriver.com/2012-ch...-around-47000/

That seems low to me, but we'l see.

They'll sell EVERY ONE of them and there will still be a waiting list at that price (as long as the gougings/markups are kept to a minimum).

That price would be a hit! Even with an added GG tax, this would sell very well. If the weight is kept down to current SS specs, this car will definitely run with the GT500 and probably edge it out in several categories.

Poor Dodge... They're gonna need to add a S/C or something if they intend to compete on this level. It's a yr or so away though, so many changes could come along the way. I don't see Dodge doing them, but I'd expect a bump for the Shelby.

Eh... Still heavy and not helpful for handling or maintenance. Plus the price of that is always too much. It may work well for those who want anything BUT a power adder from the factory though.
