Holden has also left their mark on more than just the chassis/suspension.

I knew I've seen that front fascia/splitter and driving light treatment somewhere before.

So they decided to call it the ZL-1 eh? Good. I'm glad SOMEONE at GM's marketing department knows what the hell they're doing. Looks pretty tight. Can't wait to see the weight/pricing/track numbers.
I'm guessing they'll hold onto the Z28 badge for when they figure out how to put the new Camaro on a diet.

Here's the GT500 up against the LSA CTS-V.

The ZL1 will be more than a match for it.

did anybody else catch that the hood is ALUMINUM and not just a steel hood with carbon fiber inserts? That's a HUGE difference in weight over a stock SS steel hood. Aluminum usage i bet is high in this car which is great ![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
Exterior – ZL1’s signature from the front is the redesigned fascia and aluminum hood with a
raised, carbon fiber insert. The fascia includes a front splitter and new vertical fog lamps. The
fog lamp area includes air intakes designed for brake cooling. The hood features front-mounted
air extractors that direct air precisely over the car. Visually, this center section, in satin black
carbon fiber, communicates the car’s high-performance intent as a visual contrast to the car’s
exterior color. Functionally, the air extractor is a key in connecting airflow closely to the
bodywork, creating aerodynamic downforce. The carbon fiber center section reduces the mass
of the hood. High-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps and fog lamps are standard. The rear of
the car includes a diffuser and spoiler, also functional elements that enhance the car’s
aerodynamics.

Honestly, I'm fine with using the ZL1 name, I just wish they would have given it more power. This thing is going to weigh a lot, whether they tried to lose some weight or not. The blower adds a nice chunk of weight, I'd say coming in just under or around 4100. The LS9 should have gone here...sure, might add a little to the price, but at least that would help justify what will undoubtedly by a 55k+ price tag. For 60k, I'd take an LS9 ZL1.
Got proof of that?

That's good enough for me. It's hinted at several times during that interview so they have something planned.

I'm sure they did, but there's only so much you can do without adding substantial cost to the consumer. The SS already uses an aluminum suspension and hood to my knowledge.
Throw in giant brakes/calipers, steamroller tires, blower, intercooler and I wouldn't be surprised if it clocks in at 4100lbs. LSA CTS-Vs are 4300lbs with all that hardware afterall.
That's not a bad thing, it makes the car a heavyweight champion. But we'll see.

I still think it will best a GT500 in stock form...just because of the shitty stock tires on the GT500 and torque advantage of the ZL1.

Z28 is still on the way![Winky](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_wink.gif)
Ray Wert (author of that article) received a Facebook message from a high level GM exec (Doesn't look like spelling/grammar from a high level executive, but this is what's reported).

Maybe the new 5.5L (not quite 5.0L but close enough) Direct Injection LSx motor will find it's way into a very 'decontented' Camaro SS and that could become the new Z28?
Maybe some derivation of the current 4.8L or 5.3L as mentioned earlier?
Either way these are exciting times.
