Default BMW's Twin Turbo V8

BMW is coming out with a 4.4L V8 Twin Turbo for their X6 SUV (slightly smaller than the X5). It is suppose to have around 400 hp and 450 lb/lbs of torque.

Considering the 3.0L Twin Turbo BMW engines are pushing out close to 400rwhp with bolt-ons and tunes, this engine might have some potential.

Wonder who stole who's idea for the exhaust in the "lifter galley" design. GM's baby d-max, or BMW's 4.4L v-8? It actually makes GREAT sense.

Awesome little engine. Now if it were only a overhead valve design...

Autoblog stated they are also trying to develop a twin turbo 4 cylinder, for the 1 series. I believe they said they were shooting for revs in the 11K rpms range, which must be pretty damn awesome.

Hold up... Isn't there a 135i model already available? The 1 series with the twin turbo 6 from the 335i?

135 is TTi6. Don't know of a TTi4 in the works... But they are bringing over the TTi6 diesels

The new TT4.4L is pretty cool. Sounds weird at start up due to the electronics. Very sick setup though. I'm really not looking forward to working on them though lol.

There won't be anything revving to 11RPMs with the TT i6 from the factory lol.

Hardly. I've been researching them, and they look pretty bad *** to me. They only weigh 3250. The only track numbers I found were a 13.4 @104 from a magazine test. Serious mod potential. Here is one owners dyno results. First numbers are baseline from another car, then his with a DINAN Stage 1 Flash and BMS Intake:

From other posts this is a baseline dyno for a stock 135i that I could find:

263 wheel Horse Power at 5500 RPMs
274 foot pounds of torque at 3250 RPMs

Max HP 323
Max Torque 354
Max Boots 14 psi

think its like 420 actually (n/a).but that is one hell of a motor. 420 from a 4.4L...what if that ratio went to an ls1... 5.7L = alot of HP

I believe you're talking about the VW Lupo, a production car that gets gas mileage in ranges that make the Prius look like a waste of time and money.

Hell, it even looks better than the Prius. I'd actually consider a Lupo for In-city use, if they would only bring it over here...but alas.

+1

4.30 a gallon doesn't hurt so much when you have a sub-10 gallon tank!
