Default Rusty brake pedal?

I never noticed this until someone pointed it out to me that is/was interested with my car. I know its never had any flood damage but has anyone elses brake pedal accumulated some surface rust?

Not on my brake pedal, but on both seats floor rails, looks just like your pedal.

Mine is dirtier than the clutch pedal, but not rusted. I have seen that quite a pit on the GM pickups, though.

mine looks like that too...almost stopped me from buying it...but nothing on the seat rails or anywhere else....cheap steel?

I'd imagine cheap untreated steel. Mine is the same way. Both the seats and pedals.

A cost cutting measure employed quite a while ago. They've even gone so far as to not put any oil on the IP tie bar (metal part that makes up the frame of the dash). These are even rusty before they get installed into cars now. BTW - I noticed it in your photos in the other thread also.

yup just the metal used same on both my mustangs ive owned. Ill look at my V and see if its the same aswell

I checked mine out this morning and it appears to be rust free on the pedals and on the seat tracks.

sandpaper, little newspaper, flat black spray paint. problem solved.
