Default If you had it to do over...?

...would you buy the V again? I am looking at one of these, and it is a smokin' deal. I am a student and it will take all my money just to get the car, so I cant afford a $7500 rear diff upgrade. I was all set on getting it till I stumbled across this forum and saw the sticky's. I knew it was too good to be true, LSX, T56, and bad azz looks at a great price. I would like to be able to feel comfortable doing mods to the car for HP but not if it takes $7500 to bring it up to snuff before engine mods are even a question. So my question is: Is it worth it or if you had it do over would you just get an F-body, GTO, or vette?
thanks -J

My diff has held up just fine. Just learn to drive around the wheel hop! Sticky tracks and wheel hop are this cars worst nightmare! Buy it and have fun. Its a great car. The only thing I would sell my car for is a house or a C6Z06. I love my girl!

not saying I want a competitive drag car, but it would be nice to be able to go w/ my F-body friends once in a while. It is the only legal place to see what she's got ya know. I might better just stick w/ my original plan of a GTO...I would so love to have the caddy tho, just for something different! GM really dropped the ball on that deal! what the hell did they think would happen. for the original price of 50k+ it should have had better parts than that IMHO.

used IS-F. long term reliability is unknown but I dont see lexus putting out a shitty product.

GM- lots of shitty products. I got cloudy headed and forget all about this when I go the V itch. But, the issues are not suprising, and you should be ready for this before you buy.

anyone that tells you this car is 'reliable' is fooling themselves. however it is fun as hell to drive and no one else will have one. the cost, even with repairs/mods, is less than what you can say for anything that comes close to a V.

Yes I would buy my V again in a second.

The only thing I would do differently is get a maggie immediately.

I'd do it all over again.
I bought the car as a 4 door car that has some pep and get's good mpg. Stops and turns on a dime.

If you want a 1/4 mile car, buy a mustang, camaro, trans am, etc.

You will really like the roller cam, what cam or kit are you doing?

I thought Mike and I were the only ones here that were from the Darkside!!

I have a 87 GN with a built 3.8 stock block, powermaster 70 turbo, 3" THDP etc...etc...

Oh Yea!!

I love my V!! It actually has a lot of similarities to the GN's. My favorite one is how expensive the parts are how hard to find!!

I'm not an animal lover or a liberal.
In fact, I can't stand most of them because I have allergies.

With that said,
get that f*cking pic off this site !!!!!
I do NOT want to see a picture of a dog with a half eaten face being killed by another dog.
You are a sick f@ck.

No, I should have none better, it's just another under engineered GM product. All the power in the world is useless if you can't get it to the ground effectively, or are in constant fear of what is next to break.

No, I would have waited on the Pontiac G8 GXP.

In fact I may still trade for one.

I've had mine less than a month so my opinion doesn't really matter too much. But... i would buy her again in a heart beat. I'm in love with my V. I didn't buy a cadillac to run down the 1/4 so most of the rear issues are somewhat unlikely. The car has 57K and still the original diff. carrier. Not a peep...
