Default comp driving mode gone?

Ok I took my V to the dealer to get the dvd/nav replaced(thank goodness for extended warranty). It ate my nav dvd and they could not get it out so they had to replace the whole thing. first they put in a used part that had somebody's name in there when i turned on the key. did not think much about it as it did not come out of my pocket. well long story short me and a buddy were messing around and I can not get it in competitive driving mode any more or at least it doesnt show on the screen any more. What could the problem be. Im going to call the dealer tomorrow and ask them and maybe get it in there and get it fixed. This happen to anybody else?

They need to program it as a CTS-V with a tech 2. Your nav currently thinks its in a CTS.

Like Skull said, it just needs to be reprogrammed with a tech 2.

And I believe the nav units that don't work are sent back and remanufactured, then used again for warranty work.

If you had the experience I had with my ex-dealer, tell your dealer to look up:
Document ID #1816560 (#PIC4021), "Competitive Driving Mode Will Not Display - keywords control navigation radio stability Stabilitrak TCS tire TPM traction VSES - (Apr 13, 2006)"

Second that! My V required this as well. If you have a new unit installed and the comp driving mode wont ingage that is probably the problem. The nav unit needs to be programed to a DN69 (V) chassis not a DM69 (base).

My understanding is....Comp Mode (all modes) still works, it just doesn't show on the new display.

Hmm, mine has never displayed competitive driving mode. (even though I know I've been "in" it) It will tell me the stability control is off though if I hold the T/C button long enough.

How do you know that you were actually in it if it doesn't display it? Check to see if you can personalize the steering wheel controls ("SWC") if you have a V. If so, your Driver Information Center/Navigation/Radio is not flashed with the correct software version.

My car had a swap done before I bought it.

I know it works because it displays all the other modes.

Comp mode turns off traction control and loosens up stability control but it doesn't completely eliminate it. When you hold the button down for 10 seconds it kills all traction and stability control.

you press the button and then press it again within 5 seconds...it will say Competitive Driving Mode on your nav screen if it is programmed correctly.

not if you press it within the 5 second window. I usually just press it and then press it again one second later.

I an still unclear on if Comp mode still works if it doesn't display on the nav.

I asked this like a hundred times and no one really knows.

I have no idea what the answer to the question is but what would be the purpose of not getting your nav programmed correctly (unless you are running an aftermarket nav?)?

There is no purpose to not getting it programmed correctly. It bugged the hell out of me though between the time when I had my nav replaced and when I finally had time to get back to the dealer to get it fixed.
