Default 09 w/Salvage Title

2009 with CTS-V Salvage Title

Looks like the Airbag deployed. Wonder if the frame is straight? Think someone will take a chance?

hmmmmmmm. Stuff like that is too scary. I'd rather wait till the price goes down. But it is kinda cool they showed what it looked like after the crash. Kinda just looks like front grill damage and such

Not worth it at that price to me. I'd rather pony up a few thousand more for a clean title. Worth more in the long run.

First I thought they launched it over a curb and took of the nose. But one front and one rear wheel are damaged?
But I agree with you. To big of a risk.
I'm going to wait 6 months and then start looking for a 6 speed 09. Any color but ticket me red.

doesn't look like a good deal to me. Air bags only are not going to total that car out. The 09's are still selling for high 40's. Friend just bought an 09 M6 for 51 shipped to his door...

Something is odd.

Yeah I agree with everyone else, there's no way that I'd pop that kind of cash on a car with a salvage title. I know that the banks and credit unions around here won't loan anything on a salvage title car and it can be a NIGHTMARE on insuring one....Value and things along those lines. Just too much $$ for me on such a risky venture.

37k for a wrecked car with a salvage title that needs at least 5k in repairs.......lmfao. There are idiots everywhere though. Hell headlights for our cars are 900 bucks you can count on them being around the same.

Ya, that's way to much for a salvage title.

I consider myself to be a bit of an expert in this field since I have been searching for a smashed 09-11 CTS-V. I have found everything you can imagine. This is the first one I have seen repaired and let me just say the car was hit pretty hard...I remember the pics from IAAI.com. If I remember correctly the car had damage to the passenger side as well.

Still, none the less damage doesn't scare me, but I like to be the one who fixes it. With that said you can go buy an 2009 CTS-V with 50K miles for $42K never been smashed and has new tires, so why pay $37 for a salvage one.

Like the previous poster, Most banks will not loan on a salvage title and the ones that I know that will loan will only go 50% of the blue book.

Just as an interesting note, I saw a 2009 CTS-V in New Jersey go for $28,500 in an insurance auction.....it needed $7100 worth of parts to repair it....(that was used pricing) and didn't include labor....I was stunned. I thought $20K would be the selling price since I figured it would be worth completed $35K.

I have owned many Salvage title cars in the past.....everyone one of them was a PIA to sell.

If you watch EBAY there are 09 v's without a salvage title going for around the same price. Don't screw with a car that should be selling for 10k less with a salvage title... Its unfortunate for the owners, but good for the buyers that these cars tank in value as soon as you buy them. Over 40% depreciation in 2 years on the cars that are not salvaged and increasing daily...

I think you might be a bit low there... 09's are still selling in the real world for mid to high 40's. NADA and KBB have actually increased the value of the v2's. There is a lot of talk on the other 2 forums about the value of the v's and how popular they are. I know you can probably get some good deals if you watch a lot on eBay, but it's not an everyday thing. Dealers are still asking 50k on v2's and what not. Oh well though regardless if you can buy one you need to. These cars are so much fun. I embarassed a white c6 with bolt on's Wednesday, he he he. Wish I could have seen his face.

I'm toying with replacing mine but not sure. I kind of wish I had nav,

No way would I buy that. Not unless I was well off and was looking to turn one into a dedicated track car. I'm with most of you on here, price seems a little on the high side with that type of title.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. You are correct they are not everyday prices, but if you watch every now and then there are no reserve auctions and they don't always go for a premium. Their still coming down though... Which is good news for me!!! Unfortunately they aren't wagon v's that I want!

Some months ago I also have been searching for a crashed cheap cadillac, I ended up buying a used one but I can say that it makes no sense to pay 37,000 dollars for a salvage titled car that needs maybe 10 thousand to repair it

I deal with salvage cars on a regular basis and I can tell you that if you pay more than 2/3-70% for a salvage car all said and done, you are losing money. These people are using ebay to make money in the fastest and most dishonest way. Dealers are purchasing these at salvage auctions by using the insignificant power of a dealer license and reselling them on ebay. Most 09's i see sell for around 27-34k depending on damage. Fixed this car should never amount to anything more than 35k. Ive seen 11' coupes sell for 45-48k with no visible damage at all but are those "speed ranch" ones w 3k miles on them. As far as any performance car, extensive visible damage to the wheels is a no/no for me. Just remember valuable cars with an "R" title are very hard to sell. My advice to anyone getting into this, be sure you are committed to driving a salvage car for a long time if you pull the trigger.
