With an 8.8 i dont see any reason why it couldnt 60' like GTO's. Its all a matter of traction and finding the right launch technique.

have you played with launching it on the street? my car will prolly see the track a few times but nothing crazy.. its a street car and will stay on 20's. i refuse to change em or take the sub box out for "racing purposes". the car is what it is.. i just wanna get an idea of how the rear works when beating on it

I havent tracked mine either. Just havent found the time to go since the new job. But i have launched it at 4k at a stop light. With new summer tires, (30psi) it spins and hooks up. If you dump it low to low it will still hop slightly then hook but its more like chattering, nothing like the bone crushing stocker.

I have the iron Diff and 4.10's... Love it!

With the gearing on 6th in these tranny's, there is no reason why 4.10 would cause a problem with daily driving. It's not that drastic of a change from the 3.73's but it does give u that edge.

only reason im staying away from 4.10's is i do daily drive it.. and 1st and second are pretty useless now..i plan on spraying it so i was thinking 3.55's would work out well and keep the spinning to a min

Yeah, first is pretty useless with 3.73. I can't imagine a 4.10.

I haven't been out much because it's been to hot, but my 60' sucks because of traction/wheel hop... I have the 8.8 with no other cradle or suspension mods... Street tires at that. I soft launched at several different rpm and just couldn't hook. I didn't go on a big event night, so the track probably wasnt well prepped either... I wanna get the cradle stiffened up before I go again

Yea it's pretty terrible with the True Trac... But Ive gotten used to it and if you don't jerk the car when shifting it isn't a big deal... It's mainly when going from forward to reverse gear and vice versa that you notice it... After my last track experience I'd say it put up with quite a bit of stress

What sort of power can we expect these 8.8's from cs to hold up to reliably?

Well if 8.8s have been in the 7s i'd assume 1000hp or more.

Just got my car back with the CS 8.8 put in and it is wonderfull, smooth as can be. Haven't had a chance to beat on it yet with the nonstop rain but once it dries up and i get everything nice and broken in I will get my moneys worth out of it. Normally I would do this sort of work myself, but my buddy's shop was slow and he threw 3 guys at it and they knocked it out in a cpl hours for cheap. This and getting rid of the dual mass pos are by far the best mods I have done to this car.
