Just bought last week. Just got x pipe and magnaflows.
130k , dont know what route to really go. should i go Full rebuild or just topend refresh via cam kit from RPM in DE. I need. Ao get a leak down test and post results if that Even is good measuring stick of the health of the motor. . My idle oil presuure is 38-39psi when warm about plus 10 psi cold. Car has lots of new parts, diff drive shaft motor mounts shocks control arms, I feel I got lucky 12k out the door with tax. JERRYS FORD inva
Any input wouod be appreciated want to keep stock rev limit and below 5k in price. What options are available in ky price range. Already have pacesetters not on yet. Im in maryland.

Actually, that's pretty slow. I'm not trying to be mean, but you're basically saying, "look at how awesome my car is" when it's not. Took you 7 seconds to go from 60 to 90 in 4th. Another 8 seconds to reach 120. With no shifting, the entire process took 15 seconds.
Radeon's 408 CID CTS-V, making 410/393 (totally unoptimized--my 364 CID makes 422/383), did 40 to 90 in 3rd in 5 seconds (would've done 90 if he had the rev limiter increased to 6800 RPM), granny shift, then 6 seconds to 121. Total elapsed time: 12 seconds.
My mother can do 0-120 in 13 seconds in an automatic second generation CTS-V. There are guys out there pushing 700-800 RWHP in first generation CTS-Vs that will annihilate that. I believe the quarter mile record stands at 9.76 at 141 mph for a 4500 lb second generation CTS-V driven by CTS-WEE, making about 850 RWHP on a heavily modified stock bottom end with nitrous.
I see no reason why the first generation CTS-V can't do sub-10 second quarter mile times, provided that we can get a good rear end.

I have to agree with fuzzy...795MD if you're impressed now what till you get over the 400whp mark. I couldn't really even tell when you were getting on it by looking at the tach. Cam and heads or a bottle will bring a nice smile to your face!

'Cmon everyone...our cars were fast to us when we first got them also, then we caught the "sickness". I wouldn't worry about the mileage on the short block, I would go with the cam, heads, 90mm throttle body and have the stock LS6 intake snout modified with an LS2 opening...or find a Fast 92 for cheap. Don't think a fast would really help too much over the modified LS6 at those levels.
For the short block, just make sure that you replace the oil pump, install an LS2 chain, LS2 lifter retainers, LS7 lifters, and Katech rod bolts. Rod bolts are really weak on the old motors and the Katech rod bolts do not require resizing the rods like the ARP do.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I thought that my CTS-V was slow when I bought it and still think it's slow now. It has great potential, however. During my test drive, my dad's first impression was, "I expected it to be faster. It feels sluggish, and I felt like you were really hammering on it."
Right now, I have $7500 saved for a new motor. Here's to hoping that a 418 CID LS3 improves things.

As he said, he kept it in 4th, it would have been quicker if he had started in 3rd. But you are right, its nothing super special.
It's certainly not a "beast" compared to the newer sports cars, but compared to 90% of the 4dr sedans on the road, it is. People who aren't big car people or don't own fast cars all think the car is fast.
It certainly has lots of potential, and building the car is what makes this hobby fun. You know the boosted LS3 will transform your car haha.

I posted the video for feed back on the hwalth of the motor. I dont know were I said look how fast I am. I was wondering about my idle oil pressure. What everyone idle psi at hot/cold. The car is fun, still not as fast as my e55 yet, but the mrs cant drive this one. Any recommendations for my budget and mileage, I want refresh reliability over performance.

Stay AWAY FROM BEHE! RPM in DE has always seemed to treat everyone really well, and is a LS1 Tech and C/F sponsor. RPM has a great long standing history of building sick, reliable combo's and treating people well.

So the fourm can see the viechle pull from the whole rpm range soo they can hear or notice any abnormalities. Im not posting a video of a stock V pulling from 60mph in 4th geaR and saying how fast it is. You assumed that. And continued to tell me what you thought about your assumption. But thanks for the oil pressure that's what I was looking for.
