Grab your bumper cover and see how much it moves when you lift it up. You can also see the hood gap close when you lift the bumper cover. The brace just holds the bumper cover up to close the hood gap and keep it from moving.

Im gonna try the acdelco pf58 or the pf59 filter, read on here http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answers/pdf/vfilters.pdf

A 100 bucks for such a basic part is a rip. However they are putting out a aluminum radiator soon and with alradco folding Ron Davis was the only option left

I'm not on Facebook, so I didn't see the comments, but were they concerned about the safety implications of replacing the crash brace with an unqualified piece of hardware?

No and the crash brace is not replaced. All it is is a piece of .060 6061 that sits on the crash brace and lifts the plastic bumper cover. You can see the plate sitting on the crash bar in my pic. One guy was seriously offended that I built my own. Said I was stealing other people's ideas and not supporting people that support the V1 blah blah blah. Just a buch of childish ****. I never once gave a single measurement or really any details. Just the same stuff I posted in this thread.

In fact I said if you're on the fence about buying the real one just do it because it works that well! I only built mine because I had 2 sheets of 6061 in my garage that I need to find a use for.

Here is a pic of the real one. Mine does the same thing just made a little different and with no holes cut in it.

its not as dramatic on the headlights but yes. It moves the entire cover up so it helps pull all the gaps closed.

I use the Long ACDelco filters. They've been working without issue for me. I'm bummed that I cant use it on my G8 because the oil filer pocket isn't deep enough so the filter would hang below the lowest point of the oil pan

If you want better straight line traction you might want to look into putting the rears at -1.5 camber at the max. You'll most likely need to notch the subframe eyelets to get it down from where you are though in the rear. As far as the fronts go, I'm pretty sure you're at the mercy of your ride height to get it anywhere near -1.5 camber so without raising it you're kind of stuck @ -2.x.

I found that my current setup with -2F/-2.3R is a bit too aggressive for the street and even the track. The contact patch with 275's all around isn't being utilized to the fullest and straight line traction suffers immensely. I'm going to raise my front up a smidge and when I put the 295's on the rear I'll adjust accordingly also to get it set to around -1.5F/-1.8R camber.

It would be nice if this "brace" also came with headlight provisions too so that the whole fascia can be lifted up to eliminate the sag and gaps.

I'm most likely going to make my own out of ABS and notched in such a way that it won't have any impact on the crash bar integrity. There is really no need for these to be metal.

That's what this does. It slides under the bumper cover just under the grill and picks up the entire thing. It closes headlight and hood gap. As for it being made of metal or plastic, that's up to your own discretion. I can take a piece of .060 aluminum and bend it by hand. I can't foresee any issues from this being mounted to the crash bar.

Does the bumper have to come off to add that brace? Or just the grille?
