Default lowering my 05 cts-v

so this caddy is my daily driver, its 100% other then the shifter and CAI anyways, ill be installing my kooks sometime in jan 2015 after i smog the car again but ive been wanting to lower it a lil from the back and maybe a lil up front, nothing too crazy... i heard the rear can be lowered by adjusting the springs, is this true? or whats the best way? trying to maybe lower it an inch to an 1.5'' from the back and maybe an inch up front

There is no adjustment in the rear springs. The rear shocks are self adjusting, which means if you lower the rear and drive it 10 miles, it will be back up to factory height. There is a few options, but it depends what you wanna spend. I have H&R with home made spacers. It lowered it about 2" all the way around. I personally love the stance, but some people claim its too low. That is the cheapest route. Otherwise you have ground control that you can adjust to your liking (also requires spacers) or full coil overs.

And keep in mind, this may be the cheapest way, but if your not tracking your car and you like the stance, this is a good upgrade. The ride quality suffered minimally, and all a round, I love them.

Ground control does not use any spacers. It lowers by moving the spring perch up or down on a threaded collar.

Im talking about the rear shock spacers. H&R and ground control both require them.

So no spacers on yours? I am trying to decide if I need the spacers if I only want to drop it an inch or so on the H and R springs.

No spacers, the springs will settle in more than what spec is.

Rims are forgestar F14's, I do have fender rub, I believe you will need to spend about $3000 and a lot of time to get rid of it. KW coil overs are sitting in my living room for a partial remidy.

r they 20s? they look big... i'd prob just get 18s to go wider and keep close to the same sidewall as stock for the ride quality... i just like the spoke pattern and color... is it the gunmetal you have?

What exactly to you mean by that? I understand the fender rub, but won't rolling the fenders take care of that? Why do you say $3000 to fix it. Just curious because I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of f14s myself.

rolling the fenders is a simple job you can do in your garage. you can even pull the fenders a little if necessary. if you wanted a true body shop roll and pull, that'd include paint, which is what i think was meant with the comment above.

i will probably have to roll the fenders on my V1. i was going to go with H&R springs as well as running a wider than typical setup (20x9 front, 20x10.5 rear). owning a fender rolling tool helps, but because of the 6 lug hub, i won't be able to use it. i'm just as good with a hammer and a heat gun, heh.

I thought 10.5+ was possible with CS/MAP trailing arms.

trailing arms will be included with that setup. i assumed it was necessary.

if these guys can run 19x10 i don't think a 20x10.5 will be much harder with a little fender work. i'm not afraid of it. i also don't plan on running a huge tire, it's a daily driver. a 275 will be more than enough meat to keep me happy (sorry anti-stretch, folks).
