The stock shifter is crazy, it fells like I'm shifting a freaking school bus....
OK is the Mallett shifter
-Shorter height
-Shorter throw
-Or both ???
-Is it a closer shift pattern also?
I called Hurst and B&M neither have one yet....
$450.....
I guess you can get $100 off if you send them your stock shifter.....
My Hurst shifter for the Z06 was only $150.........$350 seams some-what high...

This is what I got back from Mallett....."The shifter is shorter in height, and yes it does have a shorter throw. No, it does not have a closer shift pattern. The shifter pattern is dictated by the transmission."
I still think it cost to much, but I think I'm going to get one.....I'll let everyone know how it goes...

I am almost done working with UUC on a short shifter.
Much better than the Mallet peice. I hope to get it back this week.
It has a stainless shaft and ball w/ball bearings at the clevis. It will be a nice peice when done. Almost had it right last week but the stalk was turned down a little too far on the prototype and the handle was a bit loose. Its close. Stay tuned..

All Mallet did was shorten the stalkand add aluminum bushings to the trans mount. As the shifter is mounted to the tunnel, a rigd mount at the trans isnt such a hot idea. The UUC (BMW aftermarket) shifter is a true short shifter. Different geometry and doesent sit lower in the console. Its bushed in urethane and no plastic parts.

I will post photos Saturday. I should have the UUC peice by then. Once its proved out, you can get it from UUC directly.
I can provide urethane bushings for those who want to get rid of the rubber.

With that being said, I really like the Mallet shifter because it is sooooo much better than the stock shifter. The throws are short, precise, and crisp. The original shifter was like stirring a bowl of pudding. Please don't ask me how many times I missed a shift due to the rubbery action of the original. I don't think I would of enjoyed this car half as much as I do without the Mallet. On the down side more noise is transferred to the interior because of the bronze bushing and it is pricey at $450.

Did you get your Mallett shifter in yet and how does it feel?
I am thinking about ordering one so I was just wondering what you thought about it.

For some reason I can't spell it that damn name right.....
It was going in yesterday, but my buddy that works at a GM dealership has been sick.....
Looks like Monday....
It looks like the stock shifter but with a shorter shifter stock....We'll see on Monday....
I would hope for $450 it works...
