Comparing Mustang and DynoJet dynometers. For expample, If 400 rwhp is registered on both, which is producing more "real world" power?
Thanks!!!!
Thanks!!!!

The dynojet is more likely to produce REAL numbers, from what we've seen anyways.
The mustang dyno's we've used in the past, seem to always read lower numbers.
Personally, we now use nothing but SUPERFLOW load bareing dyno's...or DynoJet's.
...and not an expert....just what we've experienced.

A mustand dyno is capable to "load" with factors like weight, gearing, etc... IMO, producing more of a real RW figure. A mustang can read lower but it can also be "Calibrated" to read as high as a dynojet.
IMO, there are too many dyno-tricks that are EASILY applied to skewer any run to what you want it to see.
Best thing you can do is just dyno at the same dyno and use it for tuning before/after comparisons...

When we purchased our Mustang 1750 dyno approx five years ago, we wondered just how accurate it could be when doing 1/4 mile runs, which it is capable of doing. We ran my brother's '95 Formula on it, and then took his car to the track. It was within several hundreths of a second! We were impressed, to say the least. Several years ago we had a tube chassis Mustang on my dyno. It ran a 8.65 and a 8.66, then two days later ran repeated 8.70's in 100 degree heat in Texas at the Motorplex. And yes, these cars do small wheelies on the dyno, even with the front end tied down. It is pretty cool to watch. Bob

I've seen r33 skyline gtr'z go about four-five inches in either direction and lift the wheels about and inch on dyno's. those rb26dett's can be built to absolutely trash any 1000rwhp+ supra or any else for thta matter. on ANY track. Friend of mine had one and it was absolutely gut renching seeing that car lift those wheels OFF the dyno rollers when he hit it!!
To bad he had to sell it....
