And can those of us with 96/97 cars if we have obd2 compatibility (like our f-bodies) can we opt to do emissions via the new test?
He said to make sure the gas is fresh and as high an octane as possible, and make sure the car is hot...
I am optimistic though, cause he said more older cars are passing than before
Does anyone have an understanding of what the mechanic looks for when going to do the test and determining whether to do the sniffer or OBDII? Is there some kind of kickout that the ministry will not accept an OBDII test done on a 96/97 car? If we write a different VIN from say a 98 pcm or even wire up a 98 pcm (this can be done in the v6's, dunno about the v8's) if we can circumvent having to do the sniffer and do the OBDII instead?
The sniffer is the one that is going to be a b*tch, and I can't forsee shops doing it under the table easily anymore if pictures need to be taken during the process... I can't even really think of a way around that, unless you have an identical looking car that is stock/will pass, that you swap plates onto...
That's a major **** off.
