Default Got some track times for my carbed setup!

Last night I finally got to the track for the first time with my 79 Malibu carbed LQ4 6.0L! Some details on the combo are: Stock bottom end LQ4 w/ ARP rod bolts, un-ported L92 heads, and a Comp LS3 231/236 .644"/.613" 111LSA cam from Texas Speed with a th400 with a RMVB and a trans brake (which I didn't use).

The first pass I didn't get a time slip but went a 11.76@117 with a 1.84 60'.

The second pass was my best pass here's the break down:
60'-1.744
1/8th- 7.358@95.50
1/4- 11.49@118.37

Had a little issue on my third pass, still not use to my hurst shifter yet! I pulled the release on the 1-2 shift and went a little pass second into third. I got out of it and put it in second and finished the pass.
60'-1.767
1/8th-7.392@94.99
1/4- 11.548@117.81

The car definitely has more left in it, I was shifting at only 6000rpm, foot braking, and the car only has 29 degrees of timing it right now. Next time out I'll be adding a few more degrees and see what happens!

Hell, only 2 more MPH with WAY better heads than mine? Seems there is some tuning left for sure, because at 95 MPH eight you should be at 120 in the quarter i believe.

There is more in that combo, i bet money on it.

rev it another 500rpm before the shifts for sure
I'm currious, did you mill the L92 heads, or is the engine 9.5ish compression right now?

Congrats on the times! She runs great. How does the 4800 converter run on the street?? Is it an 8" or 10"??

I'm curious about this too because I have a very similar combo going together; Carb'd 6.0L with untouched L92s, 4.10s, 28's and an 8-inch PTC 5000 stall.

I'm also curious if you think the car was spinning the tires? I mean no disrespect at all, but I would have thought the 60's would have been closer to low 1.6s with that converter and motor/gear/tire/combo. I'm just not sure if you're having traction issues or if it's lacking in the 60 from the timing/tune up. Don't get me wrong....either way it runs great and will only get better as you work through things! I'm just trying to figure out what to expect from my similar combo. Thanks for any info.

Mine is a PTC 8" 4800 stall, it isn't to bad at all on the street, just make sure you get a decent trans cooler to keep it cool, they make some heat.

I think it's a combination between spinning a little and the timing being low. That's kind of were I was thinking the 60fts would be but it may get there. Unfortunately there are only two more events at the track this year before it closes, so I doubt I'll get it totally figured out by then. It's still fun trying

Cool....thanks for the info. I bought the bigest B&M Supercooler they make, so hopefully that'll keep it cool.

Yeah, I'll bet it's a blast to drive. Good luck with it and I'll be following along with your progress since mine is nowhere near track ready...LOL. I'll look forward to your updates!

More rpm and more timing should have you knocking on 10's.
