Default Dominator on a LQ4

I have a LQ4 with a cam, ported l92 heads and a victor Jr intake, Is a 1050 dominator too much carb for a engine of this size.

idk I'm kinda curious myself, but I'm running a 12:1 408 with ported L92s and Vic Jr, big cam, and have a friend with a Dominator (Holley 1050 w/ 2" spacer/adapter) that I want to try.

What are your thoughts? Right now I'm running a 750 Mighty Demon, which I know is too small.

I think you would both be fine running one. The Dominator is a great carb. I never really bought into them until we put one on my brother-in-law's car and I was very impressed. What's to lose by trying it?

Being over carbed a bit is not a problem as long as the tune is good on it.

Exactly, you cant over carb an engine, but it is harder to get a big carb to meter fuel accurately.
that said, I run a 850 mighty demon, which is loosely equivalent to a 1000hp holley, and probably very close to the flow of the 1050Dom.
My opinion on the Dom, is bolt it on and start tuning!

dominators are the only way to go for moderate to big cube, big power racecars. they are tune it and leave it alone. i am considering one for my lq4.

in my ramblings ive never had ANY carb run "right" right out of the box. that bolt on and go ****, is a bunch of just that, ****.

I agree, there is no way a carb out of the box will be optimal. But they can be damn close depending on the application.

ok, ok, a stock 5.3 with an rpm intake and an edelbroke 1406 will probably run just fine outta the box....

however, if you even on this board, you're looking for way more power than stock, so be prepared to tinker...

I agree, but he's willing to experiment and doesn't want to buy a new carb. I bet tuning is gonna be a big job with that setup. It's not gonna be a wild motor either. I think we're gonna throw in a 226/228 cam.

Nothing wrong with trying. Ive think I found a way to get a 4.8 to spool a s480 t6 turbo that I'm gonna try on my car.if it works I may approach 1k Hp with it. If not it's sayonara!
