Default MSD 6010 question

Just ordered my victor jr. carb intake from summit for my 5.3 and was going to order the 6010 box ($310.) but the sales man said I had to buy the harness for ($219) to hook up the coil packs. Is this true? I thought I had read where it came with he factory style connectors. Thanks

Nope, comes with the harness, the extension harness is optional ad not usually needed.

just buy the box and it's plenty long for most swaps, in fact my msd box is inside the dash well into the passenger side. It plugs into everything and runs fine

Where did you route the harness anyway? I have been wondering, i do want mine inside, i just dont have any inspiration as to where to locate the harness through the fire wall and i dont think it is long enough to get to the stock computer location like i had my old 6AL box.

I think the optional harness is actually shorter than the one that comes with the unit. It is shortened to allow mounting the box right on the intake manifold.

The stock harness is long enough that it ran it from the firewall, up the right fenderwell and allowed mounting the box just in front of the motor. I might move it inside the glove box this winter.

The box doesn't draw much juice, so heat is not a big issue with it.

I ran mine into the interior of my s10. The harness was plenty long.

mine is through a hole in the firewall just under my non-a/c heater box and mounted on the passenger kick panel area directly under the dash. Think they're also called hush panels or something, it's the big panel that bolts to the underside.

The optional harness is short to mount the 6010 on the intake

It comes with a long harness that gives you many option on mounting.

Mine is mounted behind the radio area inside the car
