Default Heading back to the track Friday night

I bought some new 28X12.5 ET streets bias, I think the old 1's were dead. I put a line lock in and wired the 2step for the 6012MSD. I also have some balast(90lbs) to add to the trunk to see if it helps. I really want to get my 60ft down to the 1.50 range, my best yet has been 1.60.
I'm hoping for new bests, but I'll be happy to match my previous 11.39 @ 120. tech guys are lenient on friday night events, so I wont need the rollbar just yet...

Keep us posted on how you do. A fresh set of tires can make a huge difference, or in some cases a different tire. I've found that my car likes the ET street radials better than the regular ET streets, and better than the Hoosier Quick Time Pro Dot Tires.

I found that the drag radials are great, but not for stick shift cars. they dont take the initial "hit" of the clutch

Not the greatest track outing, temps were hot( 27-29C) low pressure storm creeping in....enough excuses lol...... couldnt get the car to hook, my best run was 11.52 @119, w/ a 1.68 60ft. I tryed all different launch rpm's, softened the clutch, added ballast, nothing helped. The 90lbs ballast in the trunk only succeded in slowing the car down to 11.68 -11.7x's at 117. I removed the ballast and it came back up to 119mph.
All 60ft's were 1.65 or worse except 1 run where I f'd up and forgot to flip the 2 step switch on, haha, and I left off the 7200 top rpm limiter! =1.60, too bad I missed a fricken gear on that run
I think I need to adjust my rear suspension, I beleive it has too much preload on the slide-a-links.
when viewed from the side, the car turns the tires 6-8 revolutions before the chassis even reacts and starts to push the rear axle down into the pavement. then it continues to spin HARD while the front end comes up and the car leaves.
I want to put another 1 or 2* of pinion angle into it too, so I'll be taking the rear suspension apart before the next outing........
On a good note, it sure is fun leaving off the 2 step

Sorry to here... What traction bars you have on your car? Caltracs are pretty popular up here and seam to work well.. That is my plan for my 68 nova.

Hot weather and tracks kill ets... guys here that run 11:70-90s car run 11.40's but that 60' is definitely causing you issues and would pick up your et nicely!

My friend has a 6 speed 4th gen. His car leaves nicely with a set of QTP's. I have never heard or have had good experience with ET Streets.

Good luck

The guys on Yellow Bullet should have a lot of input on drag radials.

Sorry to hear

I hate Friday nite TNT's due to all the rice and lack of track prep

My last outing was on a Saturday and we got there when the gate opened Off loaded the Camaro and watched track getting prepped (starting line to finish line) Hooked great

There are guys running 7's on them.... they do work...but on a stick car it's tough.

With the 4.30 gears and the centerforce clutch on ET streets 26x11.5x16s i hit mid 1.5x all day launching at 5500-6500, thee clutch wont allow me to 60 any harder, i wanted 1.4s, but it isnt happening.

As you see the rear of the car hardly moves, just plants the tires and the front comes off the ground a bit, i run a -1.5 pinion angle if it gives you any help/

Barrett,
Glad to see you out there running the car!
Traction issues are really frustrating to deal with as small changes can make a difference. Track prep on any given day is a BIG variable.
I race heads up drag radial class that permits only 275/60/15. There are things that can be done to make them work, but if you are not limited by tire choice, go to a bias ply for your stick car to soften the hit.
I run very low 1.30's for 60ft times on a prepped track.
My 4 link car with an ARB is different than your leaf spring car with a stickI have found that getting a friend to film your launch is a great tool to see what the car is doing at the hit.
Attached a pic of the car leaving with 12 psi hot in the tires.
Keep us posted on your progress..

Dave
