Default cam sensor for MSD 6012

i remember reading about these engines having a few different cam sensors and some members having to splice and swap the wires on the 6012 depending on which cam esnsor they are using. i need to buy a cam sensor and want to get the one that i dont need to splice. motor is a 2007 LS2 with the 3 bolt cam conversion kit. anyone have a PN?

As far as I know, you do not need to swap the outside wires if you have the small harness for the sensor that extends it upward. I have one you can have if you need it. Even have a spare cam sensor I believe.

how much for the cam sensor? and do you happen to have an extra crank sensor too? these little things leading up to the install are starting to nickel and dime me!

Well....might have that as well. How does a buddy deal of free sound? If I ever need one I'll let you know and you can find me one later.

I think I paid around $60 for an LS2 cam sensor. The LS2 cam sensor at the front of the motor simply simply swaps the outer two wires when compared to the LS1 sensor. It has a different size connector too. You can't plug the MSD connector directly into the cam sensor.

Like Zones said if you use the extension harness it adapts between the two connector sizes and crosses the outer wires so everything works. If you want to get rid of the extension harness, then it is a pretty simple thing to unpin the MSD harness connector and hook them up to the metric pack connector from the end of the extension harness. I did that and that allows me to plug the cam sensor in from the top of the motor without having to route it all the way down to the bottom of the motor. It also removes another possible bad connection.
