Default headman hustler s10 long tubes

i bought a set of these headers last week for my truck. they are 1" 7/8. these headers are not even close to lining up. the passenger side hits on the frame where the two tubes go around the out side of frame. only have the two center tubes tring to go on now. i can"t get the back of the header up far enought to line the bolt holes up. i can get the two center tubes on driver side to where i can start the two center bolts, but can not tightning them up. and tried to put the back tube on driver side and it isn"t even close. anybody else had any problems? i don't have any mounts on it now, was gonna get the motor in with headers and build my own. so i have raised, lowered, moved the motor forwaeds and backwards as far as i can. i called hedman and they said they were going to check into it, and call back. just wondering if anybody has had similar problems? i see on here J_RUSS(i think) on here built one and he said they went on with out any problems. just thinking i may have got a set of headers with the wrong angles. it looks like the flang may be at the wrong angle. thanks for any help.

I bought the 94-03 in frame ones, dont like em wrappin around the frame. You may have to clarance the frame some, but sounds like you are gonna have to anyway. The blazers seem to fit better from what Ive read because they have the motor mount towers, the s10 mounts diectly to the frame.

I talked to the guys at brp, he said the drivers side fits no problem, passenger side tube 6 and 8 will rub. Someone cut the towers off my blazer, it has so motor mount holes, So I intend on sitting the engine as far back as possible, welding them on and maybe they wont hit. If they do Ill cut the frame and box it in.

i think these were $569. i have been on and off the phone with hedman about all day. think the flange isn't lined up with the tubed right. they are on there way back now, and a new set on the way. thinking about just putting a set of shorties on it. any idea what the gains are between the two?

ive got them. i had issues at first but once i realized the collector came off from all the tubes not just 2 it was way easier. i also used my own mounts and crossmember but i built all of that after i had the headers on. they fit really close but they do fit. i dont see how they couldnt be built right since im sure they put everything in a jig and it only fits one way before they weld it. i know i could have never built a set (without a nice bender) for the price of these. they fit nice when you figure it all out but its not something you want to take off and on a couple times. i ran into the same issues you did but once i wrapped my head around what was goin on i got it. just a little fyi tho, if you got the ceramic coated ones like i did, use some emry cloth or something to sand the ceramic coating off where the pipes go into the collector or else its a really tight fit and i had to hammer them on with a block of wood. the fit and finish on these are good, just take your time and line them up good. some refresh my memory on how to post pics i put a few up of my install if i can find them ha

Yea I had the collectors off. I was just messing with the 2 center tubes. They are headed back now. When I could get the 2 center bolts on passenger side to line up and snug, the next hole towards the front where the collector is cut. It was covering over half of that hole. Just hoping the new set will be something different, maybe not though. They offered to send a new set and I told them to send them. And that's the same plans I have is to build my own mounts and crossmember once I get the headers on. Does anybody know what kind of difference it is from shorties to long tubes?

About halfway down is a hp comparison of longtubes vs manifolds, its the cpw headers though, should be fairly close

Its something with the spacing I think, all the spacers that work with the th350 700r4, 4l60e all say "will not work with 4l80e". They will work im sure just dont know what it takes??

Well, I started the EFI 4.8 swap in my moms 96 S10, so if there is a site I should look at that has plenty of good detail, let me know. The site above was OK, but there is always more.
