Default I'm going carbed, what am I getting into, need?

Ok, so after alot of thinking of switching my project car to carbed or stay on course of fuel injected, it seems like im going carbed. I posted my fast 102, 102 tb, injectors and fuel rails for sale about two weeks ago and it seems like the intake and throtle body will be gone by tomorrow evening. Engine is a stock cubed ls1 thats going into a second gen bird that will be getting built slowly as time allows.

Sooo... with that being said, what am in for, what do I need?
I want to get the vic jr, the msd 6010 box, but from there I'm lost lol. Idk what carb to get, Holley? Edelbrock? 650, 750? I have trex cam that I want to run with it lift is int the 61x area and lsa is at a 111, from what I've read tight lsa are good for carbed applications. So will I need like an inline fuel pump as well, saw on summit a holley blue electric pump, is that enough? If not what do i need? If I'm missing anything that I will need to make this happen please let me know so I can added to my summitracing cart

FWIW, from the money im getting for the fast 102 and the nw102 tb it can pay for the vic jr, the msd box, I added holley 670 avenger carb, an inline fuel pump on my summit cart lol. Beats the hell out of paying to get a harness built, fuel system, and tuning. Not to mention all the extra work involved

Trex, good. 750 mechanical Holley carb is good. Holley blue will feed the engine. Get a jet kit and other tuning parts. Will help later. You are headed in the right direction. My trex was a monster in my stock 6.0. Will be again soon!

Look at the sticky for carb builds to get ideas of what we are using.

Def buy the tuning kits like zone said. the complete acclerator pump kit is about 140, and the jets are i wanna say around 50, but it will save you SO much in the long run. and you have everything you need right there. I think i spent like 80 buck on 3 sets of squirters and pump cams.. thats not even half of what comes in the kit.

Cool so it seems like i have pretty much what i need to get going. I just sold my stuff a few hours ago and I'm going to order all this stuff from summit here in a bit. So a Holley 750 is what i need with a tuning kit?

you should be able to run the efi pump you have in your TA if you use a bypass carb regulator and have an equal size return line

holley avenger carb is a street carb, not one for making power.

750-850 carb, i'd run a holley black or larger pump, for later, cause it's never fast enough. look hard at aeromotive and magnafuel too man...those blue pumps are borderline for most stock motors...

Wish i wouldve came back earlier, I ordered the blue one. Maybe once I get it running ill swap it out or just call and exchange for different one.

On good note, I just ordered about $2k worth of parts.
This is the carb that I ordered, let me know if its a good purchase.

that's a nice carb...still pretty street oriented. we have one on a 351c build i'm helping with.

get this pump
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aei-11203/overview/

with this regulator
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aei-13301/overview/

and run a return line. this is the most reliable setup i can think of without breaking the bank.

the one matt suggested would be a good one, i run this one here, not obnoxiously loud like a holley. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-1792/overview/ quick fuel makes a nice carb too, youl probably spend close to 600 when your done with the fuel line out the door. thats what most of my friends run everyone loves em. ive got a demon, heard nothing but bad about demons, but turned the best time with it on my 331 so im sticking with it.

There is nothing wrong with that blue pump. Couple it with a good low restriction fuel line set up and it will easily support your HP goals.

I can almost guarantee you there isn't a fuel pump made that doesn't have at least one person who has had a bad experience with it. Sometimes it is hard to shift through all the opinions.

But if you think you want to exchange it then make sure you do it before you hook it up to anything.

By the way, I like your carb choice. Holley is finally stepping up to the plate and making some tricked out carbs to compete with the rest of the market.

Holley makes some new pumps that surpass the blue and black i think. Cannot remember the details. My holley blues have never let me down, but that is me.

I run the aeromotive that Matt listed for my 6.0 now. Superb and quiet for the most part.

I went all edelbrock on mine, with a Thunder AVS 800 carb + tuning kit, and carb electric fuel pump. It looks like I may be going the opposite direction on my car this summer, switching to efi. PM me if you might be interested in parts. (Holley efi pictured is gone)

I wanted to go efi at the beginning but I saved at least 1500 by not buying an efi tank, harness and a tune so that money will go to a nine inch setup, I hope lol.
