That might work, if mine are a 5.5 BS. If mine are a 6.5 then a 15x9 with a 15x9 at 7.5 will just be another inch to the I side.
Either way, alotta Cash for two wheels.

its the ford explorer kit with disc brakes idk if that makes a difference or not?
I just re measured too. I didnt modify or shorten the rear any.

hey guys, is $175 for a disc brake 8.8 explorer rear 31 spline NON-trac loc 3.27 a good price? owner says he has 3.73 gears for it as well for another $75.
Should I jump on it and just get a mini-spool or go ahead and buy the trac-loc?

Buy a trac-lok
I ran a Lincoln locker with my aforementioned jeep 8.8 swap for a little over a year and while it was teh cool for awhile the downsides of being fully locked QUICKLY began to outweigh the positives

For my 4.10 rear for 200$ and my 3.73 posi for 100$. Just take your time and search.
And just weld up and open diff till you find a carrier to swap. A cheap carrier. No need for a new piece, a rebuild kit for a stocker is 40-50$.

Hey Zone, you were wanting to know about re-drilling those axles and rotors right?
Check out this here:
http://www.rottenleonard.com/Drill-guide-price.html
$97 shipped for the unit and it includes new drill bits for the job. Not too bad of a price considering the ford stuff you keep swapping to chevy vehicles... Lets you keep the chevy pattern on a ford axle. They have other setups available also.
If I have the money left over next week, I am definitely buying one for the 8.8 rear I plan to buy.

how could it be wrong? Their instructions indicate which shafts to use for drilling and include the drill bits. It does specify to use LOW SPEED drill and GENEROUS drilling oil.. Which I would think if you used the new bits on a drill press and took your time with a correctly set up unit, you would be fine. I know my drill press is just a harbor freight and I can rotate the drill head once the base is securely mounted down. So just figuring out how to set the axle under the head level with something solid enough to hold it straight. I would think a good block of 4x4 wood with the center drilled to fit the axle bearing would work nicely.
But there is always the idea of drilling them with the axle together, or on the vehicle.

All I know is Stewart paid to have his done and they screwed it up, so I don't know how some kit would make anyone else doing it turn out better unless it is done by a axle company.

Guess that depends on how competent the person running the machines are. The fact they screwed his up as bad as they did and did not admit to it from the start tells me they are shady and a bunch of thieves, or they have a bunch of drugged chimps running the equipment!! I will be getting a set either today or next Friday, and the 8.8 rear end within 2 weeks of that.
#514
Well, just fyi, I expect to order that kit next Friday. I am trying to trade my laptop that is 17 months old for that 8.8 and 3.73 gears I told you about. Gotta see what he says. hopefully I will have an answer tomorrow.

Deal was a nogo... I got the trans bolted to the motor today with no further concussions or damage of any kind except being worn out. Other stuff is done as well, go check it out on my build page. I have a ways to go but nothing I cant handle with a bit of time and a lot of money.
Don't forget video while at the track and good luck..
hopefully it isn't as crowded this time around.

The wait was garbage but was not as bad, couldn't get a good 60, best was a 1.92, last pass, went 8.3 at 84 which is fantastic , if it would 60 a 1.7 then she should have a 8.0 in her.

That was the 26x10.5s from my mustang.
Here is the video:
The skip in there was due to editing some racial slur from some *******. I was not comfortable with a N word thrown out there on my YouTube. Idiots among us...
Maybe I'll invest in some shocks and preload the pinion and try again some other time.
