Default The possibilities....

Mustang is making some rattling noise. Ran it low on oil....my own fault.

So, two options are in my plate:

1) 5.3 liter swap to slow it down for the upcoming 7.5 street car index class this season....(never don't that before and it would be fun)

2) abandon my carbed setup all together, 5.3 install, see how well it handles my first attempt at EFI turbo....(looking for 800 rwhp)

Thoughts? Will still have other carbed vehicles of course.

I vote for option 2. Either way you will have fun.

option 3 is probably the cheapest. i will probably get into a routine of freshening mine every few seasons cause it's WAY cheaper than reinventing the wheel everytime i have a problem.

will also give me some time to gather pieces parts for a 425ish inch aluminum block'd combo

I shave my head, so it would be doing me a favor.

And gentlemen....option 3? There is no option 3, lol. That would be finding a LY6, or L93, and then get a larger nitrous system.

I'm tired of filling nitrous bottles and want to not worry about the low end torque pulling the upper control arms out any time soon.

It is kind of "up in the air", but years of research and the price if a Holley self tuning EFI are hard to dismiss.

what is broken in your engine? can't you just repair it? i had the crank ground in my engine TWICE! then replaced it the last time i had a failure...cost me $100 for another crank off ebay. got to the machine shop with it std/std and it was good to go with just a polish.

You wont tear upper torque boxes out if you reinforce them. Mine went untouched til end of 1st year with this combo. Had been MANY MANY low 1.4 60fts with 0 problems.

I'm spoiled to dropping the LS engines in and beating them with a cam swap. I don't want to build one, not any time soon. But eventually a forged 370 for boost will happen. The thought of a JY 800 rwhp 5.3 liter is awesome, even if it is shy of that by a tad. I've seen 770 rwhp 4.8s, so I know a 5.3 will do it a bit easier.

I know, but I won't even have to reinforce them with a turbo setup more than likely. There will be no hard launches anymore. Still good but power will come in later, no more tire yanking.

One of the main reasons for not going with a NA 6 liter again is because I would want to turn the wick up to 7500 RPM or a touch more. The 4L80 is not supposed to go over 7000 because it can roll the sprag. I'm sure my crank would turn fine but there is also the possibility of being a main and having to line bore the block, and for whatever reason something is not perfect and it spins a bearing again after a rebuild, I would be pissed.

you're going to do what you want regardless, i'm just telling you some of the things i've learned with this. i have a spare 5.3 that sits on the stand in the event i have a problem. as long as i can run sub 11.50, i'm still able to run with my racing organization and can continue in points.

we are different in that aspect. that is OK.

Yea, I'm ready to go to a level that running NA and small cubes won't go. Unless I decided to try the 7.5 class, but that's probably going to make me wish my street car was a real threat, which a NA 5.3 would not be. Not around here anyway.

I will be keeping that business to myself. Lol. My local....."friends" do not need to know so I won't be even posting the results where anyone can find them.

So the answer will be 11.80 at 118.

My 80 is the lightest along with the 79, so the metal is cheaper and my upper right box has just barely started pulling away.
