I am torn. I agree with everyone. I dont like seeing these SS Monte Carlos and such. Its a 200hp 6000 lb car. They should be reserved for the elite. But the SS trailblazer is a pretty sweet ride. Took one for a testdrive. That would be an SS worthy of Family car/DD with *****. But when it all boils down to it, I should be able to say, yeah, I have an SS. And everyone know that its a camaro. Just my .02

How could putting the badge on these cars be any worse than the SS 6cyl Chevy II's and Impala's they put the SS badge on in the early 60's? It used to just be a "sporty" trim package (like it is now) with all the hot engines just being options....
Just a thought. and I know I'll get screamed at for voicing it

They are destroying the SS name! Because they are the top cars for there model doesn't mean they should get the SS title. Look at Pontiac the have the WS6 ram air with is the top T/A, but there Grand prix is a GTP and there grand am is a Gt. How would the T/A owners feel about the Grand prix and grand am's using the WS6 badge? Most patheticly chevy is using the SS title on 4banger fwd cars!!!!! What a disgrace!!!

WS6 was never really a model.. it's just an option package.. look at the GTP RPO codes.. WS6 is on there too

it should only be on the elite, special upgraded version of a base RWD car. SS lost its meaning long ago i think. Now its just a ploy to sell cars.
An SS 4x4 pickup? what a joke, they could have came out with a better name.

Then do we expell the older camaro SSs?

SS is the highest and now sportiest trim model, trailblazer SS is a good deal faster then an explorer. Colbalt SS is a good deal faster then a civic.

They shouldn't trash a good name because sells are down, or for any reason. Keep the SS the one on the top. My $.02

Concur. The SS to me has always meant a musclecar. My 65 & 66 Corvair Corsas were the high horsepower (only model with the turbo option) Corvair models in their day, but were not called "Corvair SS", nor should they have been.

I am really disappointed with the direction Chevy* & GM has taken, it is not hard to understand why the sales are off. F**d has done well with the retro Mustang, so conversely it is easy to understand why I see so many of them on the road.

I wouldn't mind having one if there is enough room to install a Gen 3 6.0L & 6-speed .

*I'm a self-confessed Chevy fan for all my driving life.

WELL BOYS I WILL SET YOU STRAIGHT, the very first ss and i get this out of a chevy ss book by terry boyce and any chevrolet dealership. was an oldsmobile not chevrolet. the first general motors division to market a super sport during 1922-23. olds built a limited number of these special sports tourings. Cycle fenders, disc wheels, step plates and a nickel rediator. mag wheels and a blacked out grilles the olds was a v8. so when i think about ss i see an oldsmobile.
