From what I understand, the center console and the front and rear seats are pretty much a direct bolt in from 4th gen to a 3rd gen. The dash however is a different story.

I have personally just finished this swap into my '89 iroc.

It Is FAR easier then it seems. Just the wiring is the harder part. If you have the wiring diagrams for both your thirdgen year, and the year you have the plug from it is easy.

One of hte heater switches is a direct plug in. Vaccum lines need to be cut, and heat shrunk together. However, you cannot have blend, so one is un used. The only issue i have, and i have just decided "forget about it" since my car is never winter driven, is the heat level selector.

The speedometer will need 2 parts from dakota Digital to function 100% correctly. One is a peice that turns the signal from your cable into an electric signal. And the other calibrates the electric signal to make the speedometer read correctly.

Console is an easy fit if you use the 6spd console, because the 4th gen shifters sit forward in park, while 3rd gens are verticle, so alot of hacking and modifying needs to be done to an auto console.

Other then that, you will need to cut and bend 2 brackets, and drill a couple holes in the top cowling so all the dash bolts fit. Other then that its a fairly simple swap.

headlight switches wire easy, and mine function perfect.

Here are a few pictures from mine while i was swapping it:

(mine is from a 95 Z28)

Custom touch, to cover up the "air bag" writing:

Forgot.

For a 98 - 02 Dash, you will need to use a V6 cluster because the Fuel level reading will be off, however with a V6, the tach will be off, but the tach can be easily calibrated.

Just realed your a 6 spd anyways. So that will work easy.

You can kinda see at the sides of the dash the brackets that are bent into the firewall

Yes it will fit into an 82.

The stock column mounting points on the 4th gen dash will bolt right on to your thirdgen column, however you will only have 1 or two places on the 4th gen dash itself that line up with the stock firewall mounting points on the 3rd gen.

Click for full size

My disclaimers: The HVAC won't be easy to setup. I know the fan speed and the zone selection won't be too bad, they're still vacuum and electrically operated. But the temp control in the thirdgen is cable operated, while the 4th gen one is electrically operated.

There will be a gap of about 1/2"-1" on the left side because the 4th gen dash is a little bit smaller than the third gen one. It fits beautifully on the right side and pretty well up to the firewall itself. If you manage to get a 4th gen air box to stuff in there, it'll be a tight fit, you'll have to cut it to match your 3rdgen one. The 3rd is cut at an angle, while the 4th gen one is flat.

I am in the process of wiring mine all up right now and it's not so bad. Just time consuming.

As was mentioned about the V6 cluster earlier, if want to go through with the swap and decide you need one, I have one for sale. PM me if interested.

if you're going to do it. get the dash from a 98-02 4th gen. those look way better than the 93-97 dash pieces.

Personally, i dont agree. I LOVE the look of the 93 - 96 dash. i like the way the guages are more "petite", and the way its very driver oriented.
