Default 2014 L83 5.3 Direct Injection E92 ECM Pin Outs

It's time to give back to all of you on LS1 tech that have helped me over the years. I'm going to post all of my wiring diagrams and pin outs that I used to convert the 2014 L83 5.3 direct injection engine to stand alone, so here goes....

The first picture is of the E92 ECM connector. There are 3 of them, X1, X2, and X3. X1 is BLUE, X2 is BLACK, and X3 is GRAY.

No problem - I haven't completed the harness details yet as I'm still working through a few last pins to make everything function properly, very soon....

I will look thru these. I am going a little different at least to start and try. I purchased on the cheap a 2015 4.3 v6 and transmission. I am sorting thru the wiring now and want to give it a try. One thing I would like is to use (maybe) the dash. I have it but need to sort thru the wiring to make it "talk"

I have a quick question on this data link. Did you just use the pins you marked below as 6 and 14 only using the GM high speed GMLAN (1) and didnt need the GMLAN (2)? I am at this point on mine and need to use hptuners and maybe eventually a CAN gage system like you did. I didnt know if the GMLAN (2) was just redundant?
Thanks
Dave

I just completed a 2016 l83/6l80e swap in my 71 c10. I have no communication with my ECM but I do with the tcm. I don't know exactly who did the stand alone harness utilizing this pin out I have found I do not get power to pins 70 or 51 of the blue plug. I also only have 2 high-speed data wires but 4 are listed on pins 36 37 39 and 40 should I have all 4?

GEN III,
Pardon my ignorance but I want to make sure of the connector that I am deleting wires on in the first picture. My assumption is that it is the blue as the first schedule is of the blue plug. My project is stripping a 2015 silverado wreck and transplanting the engine/ trans into my '63 Pontiac convertible. The wreck came without a key so as it stands I can not start it. I would like to before taking the engine out so if there are any nasties I can fix them while the engine is on the floor not in the Indian. So if I remove the identified wires from the correct plug it will start and I can tailor the remainder after installation?
Thanks so much for the information, being retired and on a fixed income this will really help the pocketbook, I have a lot more time than money.

Story of my life, day late and a dollar short. Is there anyone else with adequate knowledge to help me out? Maybe a similar thread I have not found? I am beginning to figure out that this swap is a little more complicated than putting a 327 and a 4 speed in a 39 chevy.

Default L83 with 6l8e 68 gmc conversion

Hello, I have a 1968 GMC P/U and i am putting a L83 gen5 engine with 6l80E transmission. I have heard people talk about the stand alone harness conversion like the one you describe that you did.
My question is this. Do I need to do a stand alone conversion on my harness if i am also running the trans that came with the engine?
I assume that some people and doing the stand alone conversion to the wiring harness because they plan to run another transmission in witch case the stand alone conversion to the harness would be different?

There a couple reasons for the "standalone" harness. Most that come out don't have the complete fuse block so the wires that need power need to be separated out and added to fused power. Some will be constant 12 volts but most will be keyed 12 volts. So standalone in this since just makes sure you have power in the correct spots. You willl use most of the other plugs and sensors so no big deal. I started down this path and got mine running just to check to see if it was possible.
Then the second reason is to clean up the harness and remove any additional wires you don't need. In the Gen 5 you will need most of them. Plus you can route them as you see fit for a cleaner install.
Good luck
Dave
