Default Couple Q's on L92 ECM setup.

I've got a L92 motor I'm putting in a 72 Chevy 4x4 off road truck. I had planned on using the GM LS3 controller kit. Will that ECM control the VVT if I have it tuned or do I need an OEM computer from a l92 equiped rig? If that won't work I understand I can just change out the cam and basicly have an LS3? If I go that route and install the factory hot cam do I need to change out the lifters or springs? I've searched and have seen conflicting info. Thanks for your responses.

I don't know if the LS3 controller will work with the L92 or not but I do know that Mast Motorsports has a ECM and harness made for the L92 and it comes pre-tuned. You can even add their cam kit and bump your motor up to 530hp. Talk to Shaun at Mast. He will get you hooked up.

I don't know for sure, but I rather doubt that the GM LS3 controller kit would be able to control VVT. Myself, I just bought the E38 ECM new.

I could be wrong though...

The GM controller kit WILL NOT control the VVT systems. They all use an E67 computer which has no capabilities of controlling that system. YOu will either need an aftrermarket harness/program using the E38 computer, or the MAST system.

What did the dealer charge you for your harness and computer if you don't mind saying?

That Mast setup looks pretty nice but kinda spendy for an off road setup. Might be better off switching out the cam and cover to LS3 spec and just buy the GM kit for $900.

Keep the computer and everything you already have, just get a harness made, or modify one if you have it to work.

If you can wait a little after the first of the year, our new M-90 DBW kit will be available. It doesn't have wideband hardware in so it is quite a bit less expensive.

I am at PRI right now and will be out of the office until next Wednesday, so give me a ring in the middle of next week or shoot me an email.

Hope this helps!!!

Thanks Shaun I'll call you next week then.

I never got the harness or computer with my setup. It is a brand new motor.
