Ouch!! What appears to have caused the motor to let go?

Motor was out a escalade with 3,000 miles on it. I had 1350 miles on car when it let go.

I think from looking everything over a rod broke and took out the # 7 and #8 and the crank looks good and spins freely and even the bearing looked brand new on the crank which was all that was left.

Awe man, sorry to here that. Everything was going so well. I just read the whole thread and was very surprised with the ending. Well a 427 would make a very good beginning.

Ya that was going to be my guess because from looking at the pictures it definitely doesn't appear to be an oiling issue. How high were you spinning the motor at the track?

Like everyone else said now you have an excuse to go ahead and build an better setup . Any ideas of what you might do next?

Being i can get brand new LQ9 Block for 700 bucks, Complete Manley Forged Rotating assemble for 1900.00 with bearing and rings, looks like we will be building a 408 CI Terror with TRickflow 225 CNC Heads, now here is where it gets tricky. EIther VIctor Jr Intake with Carb or MAST EFI Aluminum Set-UP looks like carbed set-up.

Either WAy we should be making 500-550 to the wheels on Pump Gas.

Hoping to Run 10.50's all day

----THis broke on the street, making a test pass 116 MPH about 6,000 rpm. We spin engine to 6300-6400 on dyno.

Ralph, I 'm glad that you didn't post pics of your undershorts because I bet they were brown. That must have scared the hell out of you when that let go. Wow, that really sucks. Maybe an LSX block in the near future? Ralph look at this way, at least it didn't make you lose control of the car at 116 mph. I will be talking to you soon.

Noooooo!!!! I'm sorry to hear that Ralph!! I can't believe it, motor had barely any miles on it. That must of been scary blowing that thing at over a 100mph! What is salvagable from the motor? Good luck with your new build. I'm sure it will be a beast!

Just gotta see what drops in place, pay off some bills. Look around for some blocks and then make a decision

Maybe by the fall it will be up and running but only gotta drop new set-up in the car, and may do the carb intake set-up. Just easier to tune and get it all correct.

Doesn't look like anything a little JB Weld can't fix!

Seriously though, sorry for your loss.

Well the perfect size Rear would be 4.00 backspacing. This will clearance the outer wheel lip without any hammering.

My Rims are 15 x 8 with 3.5" backspacing

Now if you were ordering Bogarts, then you can actually order the exact sizes that you want made. He CNC's each rim to the order.

HEY NOW,
Watch what you say about my undershorts. They were not soiled. We make them and we can break them. It broke after i lifted from the pull on decel. I was just coasting it down the road without any braking to safely get to the shoulder.

Got any blocks laying around the shop over there, maybe a gift for my birthday or graduation present. ---- maybe even 3.8 turbo set-up into the sleeper.

Just picked up a LQ4 Motor, looks pretty good inside, not sure what i want to do yet, i would like to install forged rods and pistons and then my LS6 Heads and Intake. We will see, money is real tight.

Stay Tuned.

More To Come.

Got 2 Track Rentals coming up Nov 12th and Dec 3rd so hoping to make it to one of them for some results.

Glad to see you're back at it. How's the progress coming? Question, when you moved the motor back 1 1/2" did the motor end up being in the stock location? I'm asking because mine is in the stock location and I'm in need of some headers.
