Default Fox Body Swap from a 4cyl Car?

I'm interested in doing a LSx swap into a Fox body.

Is there any reason to avoid using a factory four-cylinder car as a starting point? Are the rear ends the same (as strong) as the eight cylinder cars?

Any other considerations?

TIA.

No, 4 cyliner cars have a 7.5 inch rear. 5.0 Cars have an 8.8 rear

I might have found an extremely clean 4 cyl car. Is the 7.5 rear the only detriment for the swap?

I would think Fox 8.8 rear ends are a dime a dozen...should be fairly inexpensive to swap the rear if that's the only weak link.

PS - I'd ask the question on one of the Mustang forums but they seem to get quite bent out of shape at the mention of GM swaps into Mustangs

yea thats about it. 8.8 are fairly cheap. The brakes are different too but most people do 5 lug swap.

Yeah...I'd plan to do the five lug swap as well.

That's why you lie and say you're putting a big-block Ford in it, and once you get all your questions answered let the truth be known

lol i get banned from a ford forum for this same reason.

I started with a 92 4 cyl notch, its the way to go. Every 5.0 around here has been hacked up and beat to chit. My 92 is as straight as can be. Bone stock, perfect factory pain and the best part, i paid $500 for it

LOL...I just posted on one of the 'Stang forums that specifically has a "mixed-platform" sub-forum but it doesn't look like that area gets much traffic.

I'm interested in the 4 cyl car for the same reasons...it's clean and hasn't been butchered. $500 is a steal! This one is a bit more than $2500 and I haven't seen it in person yet but if it's as clean as the seller states, I think it'll be worth it.

just look around and take your time. It took me a couple of months to find my notch.

My car actualyy started out as a 4 cylinder, too. These cars are less abused to start with.
