So now the question is, do i risk turning up the wick to ~560 RWHP before Power tour on my stock long block... I've been reading "stock bottom end reliabilty list" forever, I think upper 500's should be ok with a good tune.

It had to happen at some point, Forged LS2 and bigger numbers, hopefully before power tour
so the engine is out of the crate, and assembly is underway. so far the only used parts are the crank and the valley cover. Speed inc SC2 cam found its home!

Putting more parts together, picked up new rocker arms from the dealer. A little time consuming, but I did the trunnion upgrade...the stock ones at high RPM and aftermarket cams can have a bearing cap come apart, this prevents that.
repeat 16 times
the stock guts
New (made in usa) bearings and trunnions

only problem on Gold Rush on power tour was I pulled the end off of the lokar throttle cable, no biggie.
So now that the PT is over, this is what went in the car. SLP was nice enough to get involved with the project and provided one of their new TVS2300 blower packages with a few next-gen prototype parts. that was great, but they didn't work with my cathedral port heads or front acc drive. They made a custom hub for the blower to use a VMP GT500 8 rib pulley and gave me a set of LS3 heads. This is the reason I needed to change my shortblock to an LS2 based engine. I filled the heads with Hollow intake and inconel exhaust valves and Tooley Dual springs with Ti retainers. I also modified a Gen 5 camaro SLP blackwing intake setup to fit the gen 1.
2 weeks to power tour
OSHA approved
I made a prototype idler mount and Roush/SLP fab shop made this solid piece for me from it
Sunday before Powertour it was on the dyno
it did ok
Finished!

Great results with the forged shortblock and TVS2300. Now that it has been together for a few months how has the combination worked for you? In hindsight, is there anything you would do differently?
I am getting ready to do a very similar upgrade. Do you remember what year/model of 4l80e you went with? What trans crossmember did you use?

Factory cross-member. My core for the 4l80 was a 1996.. so I have a missing bolt, but no issues with that. I did get the "LS" dust shield that matches the oil pan bolt pattern. Love the combo. Get in and hold on. Only changes coming are weight loss and more traction. Stay tuned.
