Ls1 dodge ram!!!
Been driving it all day today. Seems like its alot easier on fuel, quieter, lighter, and it actually has more low end power.
Can't wait to get it to gateway to compare 1/4 et , mph, and 60' foot vs. the old setup.

the 440 is a heavy motor, and with todays lsX able to be punched out to 454....why have the old boat anchor in there?
The 440 always had overheating and starting/charging issues. In todays 100degree heat the ls1 didn't seem to mind it at all
I'm hoping to get those shift points dialed in soon and make it to the next midnight madness at gateway international raceway.
Anyways, I have a LS1 in my 94 Chev truck. I ran a truck intake for a long time but I had a LS6 manifold laying around so last winter I decided to swap it and see if I could gain some performance. I don't have any before or after dyno numbers but I do have some seat of the pants impressions and some track times. I tow loads of around 4000 lbs pretty often and sometimes way more than that. The first time I towed after doing the intake swap I knew I had messed up. The truck bogs at the first sign of an incline and even after it downshifts it was still underpowered from how it was with the truck intake.
At the track my 60 ft got worse by about .05 the ET stayed right at the same and the MPH came up maybe .5 (1/8th mile track) So performance wise I would say it is a wash but if you do truck things with your truck I would recommend using a truck intake.
My solution to the lack of torque was to put a turbo on it lol. But I am however probably going to put the truck manifold back on even though its turboed now.

Thanks for the results, I'll stay with the ls1 manifold for now, will will go ls6 soon. Mainly because they look alot better then the truck version, also I'll be getting a 2800 stall someday and the lack of low end will be eliminated by the converter.
Swapped a 440 in it .......15.7 better, but mpgs were 9 at best
swapped the LS1 in there, ran with a stock LT1, so most likely a 14.2 and still gets 18 on the highway 14 in town.
Truck still needs tuned, hitting limited on the 1-2 shift, and there are still many bolt-on I can get that will soo find their way onto this motor. UD pulley, trt 2600 or 2800 stall, ls6 manifold, ls6 cam and heads.

The main thing left for the truck is WOT shift point adj. I'm supposed to get that done tomorrow by PBJ (Performance by Joe) if all goes well then the truck will be at the next midnight madness at gateway international raceway on sep. 17th. Hoping to break high 13's
