Default 81 monte carlo 5.3 carbed

I have some what finsihed my conversion.... all thats left is the tv cable and a few wiring issues to iron out. Im needing help from whomever can help me. Confussed as to how to hook up my altenator, and when i drove it down the street I went to stomp on it and the car bogs down before wanting to run hard. Was really looking for that quick response ******, need help please. This is my first build and really want to make this work. I have the edlebrock 7118 intake and msd box, 650 cfm edlebrock elect choke, elect fuel pump, 700r4 tranny, tci flexplate, with headman headers, dual elect fans from an 02 z28, 3 core radiator from a mid 80s camaro. Willing to listen or read any advice that can help me.

Electric pumps are much better at pushing fuel then they are at pulling so it is possible that could be an issue

I'm dealing with the same issue on my motor. These engines are very sensitive to the accell pump shot right off idle. You need an accel pump cam with a rapid initiial open rate.

ummm thats not a kickdown cable thats a TV cable. run your car without it and you'll burn your trans to bits in under a week or so

look up bowtie overdrives and their tv-made ez setups. if your not confident in setting up the TV system a local trans shop should do it for you pretty reasonable

The tv-made ez setups only fit the older throttle bodies with the small side plate. Any other throttle body and you have to custom build something for it.

you probably need a 50cc accell pump. i am running an avenger 670, had a stumble, put in the bigger pump. solved my problem

howd youu come out have you fixed the problem yet. I read somewhere here that when you use a carb you should shorten the gap on the plugs to 35 like older engines i havent tried this yet.

Lineman...... havent messed with it since the post other than driving it to my local auto shop for the hook up of my detent/tv/kickdown cable. Picking it up 2ma, then I plan on moving my fuel pump first and going from there. Thanks for ALL the insight on here lately was about to give up as Im new to this all. The sight and my VERY FIRST build.

don't know anything bout edelbrock carbs. this seems to be a common problem w/vic jr intakes being a single plane.

you can richen the fuel mixture a little with the front air mixture screws, if that dont get it ,you can change meter rods and power valve spring.that should take care off it. im sure you already tried adjusting accel pump arm.edelbrock makes a tune kit.
