LQ4/T56 into my 69 Camaro

I liked the way they fit when I had everything together. I havent finished the firewall and engine bay yet so everything is out of the car right now. I liked the fitment though. I did not like the fact I had to pull the steering box to get the drivers side in and I did not like the interference at the numbers 5 & 7 plugs. The wires will have to modded to work. I bought the MSD adjustable boot kit to accomplish this so its just a matter of getting everything and start with the small stuff. They are a beautiful set of headers and quality built at an affordable price. I really was surprised of how nice they are all the way down to the collector flanges. I did order the wrong colletors though and had to go back a order another set. $62 mistake! Bang for the buck Dynatechs all the way. Wanted Kooks but settled for Dynatechs lets just put it that way.

Thanks Toxic! And yes I wanted the 3" reduced to 2 1/2" since I already own and installed the Flowmaster 2 1/2" system. I will just reattach the existing exhaust to the new headers. I want it so the center section will unbolt so if tranny work ever needs to be done it wont be such a pain in the ***.

Best of luck to your friend and thank him for me. Not many people would stand up for their country any more!
Sorry for the delays on my posts. I have had to stay late at work, run the kids every which-a-way, and list keeps getting longer. My plans are to finish the firewall/engine bay today. Then I will be able to progress rapidly.

Would you recommend the Flowmaster setup you have? I am still undecided on an exhaust setup yet.

I love the sound of the Flowmasters. I have the 2 chamber 40 series mufflers and it has an awesome sound. The mandrel bent tubes are great. I had these same mufflers on a mufflers shop version of pipes and it didnt sound that good. With the mandrel bent tubing you actually have a full 2 1/2" exhaust from front to rear. The crossover tube is well built also. The hangers bolt right into place and the exit of the exhaust is almost invisible. I did have to weld two brackets on but the other two bolted right into the factory holes. I used a 2 x 12 and jacked the mufflers against the bottom of the car this way I knew they were up tight and square to one another. Once I got the mufflers in location I started welding. I am going to have to modify the front portion of the exhaust since the headers are in a different location than the small blocks were. No biggie though. I actually bought my exhaust used off of a show car that had virtually no miles on it for $100 I also bought the factory seats for another $250 from the same guy. Its amazing what you will find on Craigslist sometimes. To answer your question, yes I would recommend the Flowmaster setup. Its a little pricey and if you have a good muffler shop around you may want to see if they can mandrel bend your pipes and save a ton of money. You can buy the brackets and hangers from Flowmaster if you want to replicate their exhaust.

Here is a couple of pics of the 6 cylinder gas pedal I am using. I tied the two rods together for strength and added weld to their connection point. If you notice the end that the cable hooks to has been straightened so that the cross pin on my Lokar cable will connect properly.

This is the gas tank I pulled out to modify. I had bought a Spectra fuel injection tank but after weeks of figuring ways to modify something that should not need modifying I decided to send it back and order a fuel pump out of a 2003 Ford F350 6.8 truck. There is a guy on here that goes by firstgenguy and he modified his tank using this same pump and has had no issues to date of fuel starvation. I truely appreciate him for sharing his idea with me and will now copy his design. If you have been keeping up with the thread about the Spectra tank you will know what I am talking about. There are pictures of his modification on there if you are interested. I may copy them and post them here.

And this is the reason for my lack of updates lately. I have welded, ground, sanded, wirebrushed, cleaned, seam sealed, bondoed, fit brake lines (which I am going to redo), fit the clutch master cylinder, fit the new CPP master cylinder for the brakes, cut, and only the Lord knows what else in this confined space. Let me make a suggestion to anyone that is starting to restore a car, Pull the subframe and have it cleaned of weld splatter, stripped and painted or powder coated prior to your restoration. I thought mine was clean enough but after working on it off and on for the past 3 weeks I realize that it was not. What a pain in the *** this has been. I could have rebuilt 5 motors in the time it has taken me to get to this point. Good thing I am short and can at least sit down in there from time to time.

And to add to the frustration the angle grinder slipped out of hand today and the flap disc got my ***. What a wonderful feeling to have your flesh sanded off. It actually smeared my skin to one side. I am sure this will feel great when I scrub the grease out of it tonight in the shower. I know what a puss, sorry.
