I appreciate the information! For now I will try it as is and if in fact it is necessary I will do the trinary. You were right on the page that summed it up. It makes sense to save wear and tear on the battery and alternator. It would also save gas and have more power to the wheels. I will prolly cut the A/C off if I need the extra power or I could incorporated a "wide open" switch to temporarily kill the air compressor. Thats the way my 280z was setup. That meant in the 3 years I owned that car the air conditioning was prolly cut off more than it was on, lol!! Thanks again!!!!

it sounds like you've got just as good a setup. so how'd you tie the AC to the PCM?

The vintage comes with a 3 year warrantee and it is extendable anytime in the 3 years for another 2 years for $60. I am ashamed to say that I have owned mine for almost 6 months and haven't used it yet.

The SSP wiring harness had the A/C signal wire already tied in. If you go to this website I am sure they will have the pinout for the same wire for your specific need: http://lt1swap.com/index.htm

Just go to the wiring harness page and find your PCM listed. They break down every wire in your harness.

I just finished the last of the wiring tonight on my Vintage. I will let you know how it works out. I need to wire in the back up lamps, line lock, and the performance wire and all of my wiring will be complete. I made a template for a plate to go behind the clutch master so it will tilt it forward 20 degrees. I am using a 1999 Dodge 3500 clutch master reservoir so it isnt a drop in fit to the firewall. Engine is filled with antifreeze, air intake is complete, etc., etc. still shooting for tomorrow for the finish date other then the air conditioning charge. Maybe just maybe I can at least drive to the store with confidence.

Also Tony, ISSPRO makes a relay that is speed controlled. I have one in a vehicle that uses a SPAL fan controller. I simply cut all power to the controller (and the fan) with the ISSPRO relay at any speed above 55 mph and turn it back on at 50 mph. Works perfectly for years now.

I am guessing that it ties into the VSS? Or does it tie in to the speedometer output? I like this idea! No sense in running the fans when they are not needed. Thanks, I will look into this.

They use a VSS signal. Actually, I believe the one I wired was to an ABS signal if I recall. You need a signal that varies with speed. I really like it.

Do you have any pics of the new water neck housing and your radiator hoses? I was thinking of getting 1 that came straight out, but I may pony up the dough and get the S&P 15*

If you go to this link it will take you to Street and Performance catalog. Click the drop down menu and pick the "LS Section" once in the LS section go to page 11 and the three styles of water necks will be pictured. I chose the 15 degree as the hose was simple to find. You will need to know which year model of water pump you are using. In 2004 GM changed the style of thermostat and they are supposedly not interchangeable. I have a 2004 GTO water pump and used the older LS1 style thermostat without incident. I will have to dig up the hose numbers but here are the link and the pics.

Crosstraining here are the part numbers for the upper and lower radiator hoses:
I am using Gates part numbers: 20603 and 22373. The lower hose will need to be shortened but the top hose fits perfect uncut.
Hope that helps, if you need any further information just let me know.

I finally got the Camaro back on the road. Now for the bad news, this car sucks on wet pavement!!! Or should I say it is a blast to drive on wet roads!!! First gear is useless on damp roads. Second is nothing but a blip of the throttle and she is sideways. AWESOME!!! Here are a couple of pics along the way.

This is the bracket I made to adapt the Dodge reservoir to the firewall. It is made on 20 degrees to level out the reservoir.

[IMG][/IMG]

Clutch reservoir in its final resting place.

[IMG][/IMG]

Air intake glued together and clamped tight.

[IMG][/IMG]

This is the final location for the heater hoses. What a pain in the *** this was. I did however fire up the Vintage Air and tested out the heat and it works great!!!

[IMG][/IMG]

New chrome hood latch installed with stainless hardware. Adds a little bling to the underside. Not necessary but it was cheap enough.

[IMG][/IMG]

An engine shot, a little cluttered now the heat and air are installed but still better than what I expected.

[IMG][/IMG]

The hood is finally on and lined up! This piece of the puzzle hasnt been at home in over a year.

[IMG][/IMG]

All in all its a fun car to drive. With the luxuries of heat its a plus plus!! No more carrying around a towel to clear the windshield. I have defrost now!!! Awesome feature I havent had since I have owned the car. Making an appointment to have the A/C charged. I still need to take the car to Tick and have them dyno tune it but for now its driveable and that is worth a million. It tends not to want to idle correctly when up to normal operating temperatures but the power is phenominal!!! Smooth transition from idle to WOT. Just what I wanted. I did spend two days replacing my steering coupler. Once I realized it was easier to drop the box it became a cinch!!! My fault for being lazy. I will update when I start on the rearend but as far as the swap I am done. All wiring is done, all fitment issues are complete. I am here for anyone in process of doing a similar swap if needed. Thanks to all my LS friends and I really do appreciate all of your help no matter how big or small!!! Best of luck to you guys hopefully I will see you soon.

This is all very nice but what's up with the 302 on the hood? Isn't that some sort of a Ford motor?
