Default Sneek peek at my LS1 (now LS6) for the '63 Grand Sport

I temporarily assembled some of it to get an idea of what it'll look like. I'm still wiping the drool from my chin...

Some features are:
LS6 block, Patriot Stage 2 LS6 heads, custom grind Comp cam 228/236-.588/.602/110+2 lsa, LS6 intake manifold, LS6 PCV conversion, MTI Billet T-body, Meziere electric water pump, Speed Inc. billet fuel rails and custom Katech cast aluminum 'Grand Sport' valve covers... also powdercoated timing chain cover, PS pump and alternator brackets. The A/C compressor will be mounted on a special bracket to relocate it to the upper passenger side to clear the frame. Still deciding on the headers - looks like I may have to have some custom made.

Special thanks to Steve for raising the bar on engine appearance and to Speed Inc. for help on the engine.

Tell me about it... I was excited that this weekend I got my (stock) heads bolted to my rebuilt shortblock, got the LS6 valley pan on, put the intake on top with the stock fuel rails and put the Z06 cover on for a photo op. (I know.... the valve covers are on the wrong sides. I fixed it this afternoon.)

That motor looks awesome Mark!!!

how did they coat/plate the intake?
did they use an electroless nickel plate, then powdercoat?
what did they cure the coat with? oven or IR light?

Belive it or not that's just plain old basecoat/clearcoat body paint. I had the same color on my last engine and it always looked great - no heat issues whatsoever.

No but they're made by the same company. These have a place for the factory oil cap and use factory gaskets where as the C5R need to have sealant and have no provisions for adding oil.

Here: http://www.katech-inc.com/ Yes, you can have any text or logo but it gets pricey. I even did the artwork for my logo myself and gave it to them in an Autocad .dxf format and they charged full price.

You realize you need a clear hood for your car; it would be a shame to hide that great looking motor!

Luckily the hood has giant louvers in it. The engine WILL be visible!

Here's what the hood looks like: http://www.hpphoto.com/servlet/LinkP...205324c7&size=
